You would have thought by now we would have discovered a way to rid ourselves of these little pests forever! I know alot of you have kids and there seems to be so many different methods to get rid of them when the little pests (the kids lol) bring them home! What methods do you use? Either natural or chemical....All ideas greatly appreciated!

Ohhh the joys of what the kids bring home from school. I haven't had this problem in awhile but when I do, I am not fond of the chemicals in the over the counter stuff or even what the doctor gives you. My remedy can be messy and seem disgusting but it works. You plater your head with mayonaaise and then cover it with a shower cap or something like that. You have to leave it on for at least two hours. The longer the better. It suffocates the little buggers. Then rinse out the mayo and use one of those nit combs.

Its really not that bad and it washed out good. I thought it would leave my hair greasy but it didn't. I wish i could remember the website, but they had a whole bunch of home remedies. If I get some extra time, I will look to see if I can find it for you.

I swear by tea tree oil. When my children used to get headlice I would put a few drops in a small amount of shampoo mix it together then shampoo hair leaving the shampoo in for a short while then rinsing. I would not condition when I used tea tree oil. You can also buy tea tree oil shampoo but I preferred buying the 100% oil and then adding it myself to the shampoo, that way I know that there are no added chemicals.

I didn't think that killed the little beasties just disabled them for a short time.

I am not speaking from something I have read, I am speaking from experience. Not only did this get rid of the problem for me but I also continued to wash their hair once a week with tea tree oil in their shampoo, I would also put a few drops in the water spray bottle that I would use to wet their hair down before going to school, using this technique while the outbreaks were still happening they never got them. The best way for you to find out is give it a go. I swear by it

you can buy lotion in the chemist or get it prescribed off your doctor

Hi, there was a section on one of the morning tv shows here the other day about headlice, and they had a woman on there saying that the over the counter mousses and shampoos are ineffective at getting rid of headlice, instead she used a special selection of combs that literally combed the eggs and headlice out of the hair.
