how to recover data from unbootable hdd

kindly help me my HDD stop running i have tryed lot but all in vain, in another computer boot in DOS by Floopy /Cd but it cannot recognize. i have data of 5 years on my home pc if nay one know how to retrive pls help me

you can buy a 3.5" HDD box!you just have to put the HDD on it and conect it by USB port!it is detected by windows Xp automaticly and Viola!!hehe! You have to know if your HDD is Sata or IDE to buy the box! here in Portugal they cost about 40Euro...

It depends on what you mean by "stop running". Does it make any funny noises when it boots or starts up? I have a program by the name of Ontrack EasyRecovery. If the hard drive will read information at all it can recover it. Now if the drive is making strange or disturbing noises, that is much much harder and much much more expensive. The people that retreive that information have very expensive and special machines to run the disks of your hard drive to be able to read it. If you are interested, I would be happy to run this utility but I will need the hard drive. Send me a message and we can try to work it out.
