A little cousin of mine has a very rare medical condition and some family members are holding a benefit in her honor to help the parents with some medical expenses. So, I've decided to make a baby rag guilt for them to auction off to help raise money. Does anyone else enjoy making rag quilt? After we make this one, we plan to make one out of old jeans that the girls have outgrown.

I made a rag quilt out my my childrens' outgrown jeans and flannel baby blankets. It was a present for my new niece. I really enjoy recycling clothing and incorporating it into a new quilt.

I've never made a rag quilt-- I have every intention of making one but haven't found the time yet.. Is this just scraps of material? I have saved several pieces of clothing of my daughters when she was little- I even cut them into blocks.. This is what I will make my quilt out of. Fabric that has meaning to us. I can't wait to get it done and show her all the cute fabric. I still have the quilt my grandma made me when I was a child- It's out of different fabrics and then raggedy anne is on the back- I have had to fix it only once. It now only lays across the quilt rack my grandpa made for me. They are both gone now- great reminders of them and the fun, loving people they were. What a great way to make money for your cousin.

That is a wonderful idea - to make the quilt of your daughter's clothes! We're just purchasing material to make this one since we don't know who it will go to.... I've made these before for both of my daughters and let them pick out whatever material they want. For the jean one, we'll use their old jeans, which my oldest daughter is excited about...

Oh isn't that lovely of them to hold a benefit to raise funds for your little cousin, I think that is so wonderful of them, as it is very expensive these medical bills. I have made some rugs and blankets, that is great and I wish you luck in your fundraising.

I've made a quilt out of old jeans and a poncho, I can't post pictures or i'd show you. I also would like to make some Cushion Covers in the same style as the quilt I made out of Denim, as the result is always very good. I'm also doing a very large handmade quilt I've used rags in, though I'm also using fabric I've bought.
