What age is not too aged for a child to read this wonderful book?

I'd read the book,'To kill a Mocking bird' about decade back. The book is best suited for the growing up. When did you read this book and for which age group do you recommend this classic book?

I think that you have to be about eleven to really get the most out of the book. Old enough to understand the workings of it and the culture of that time period as well. How ignorant people were and how people act and why. Then you can really enjoy the book.

You are right. 11 seem to be an age when a child starts to get into the literature stuffs.

Some literature can be deep and pretty thought provoking.

I first read this book when I was 13 or 14. My daughter has started to read it, and she is just 1 years old. I would recommend it for those 13 and older.

I agree with you. I am also trying hard to recollect the story. By the way, I have not seen you around here in a while?

I read that book when I was about 17 and I'd like to recommend this book to every age group except the kids who are too young to understand the novel.

Thanks for the comment. Even some grown ups(in their 20s) who aren't much use to reading novels think the book is boring and makes little sense to them. But i laugh at them at this.Kids ought to be taught to read and grasp as much as they can while at their young age so they can appreciate literatures from their childhood days.

To Kill A Mockingbird is about injustice and childhood innocence. "mockingbirds are neither harmful nor destructive, and only make nice music for people to enjoy" To kill a mockingbird is to kill or take away the innocence of a child or person that is innocent themselves, such as Tom Robison in the trial or Boo Radley who never retreats the Radley home.

I lost my copy of the book since i read it a long time back. Thinking of buying another copy of it to re-read it myself and to pass on to the younger generations.

I read To Kill a Mockingbird in middle school, I think in the seventh grade. It is a wonderful book with many good lessons. Because of the lessons and themes it might be best read at earliest in middle school or seventh/eighth grade, unless a child is particuarly mature, or under the supervison of someone with maturity.
