Do you ever post a discussion, and then after you post it, realize it's already been written? This has happened to me twice today, even though I used the search bar beforehand, and didn't see the same discussion. So for anyone who's discussion I have unintentionally recycled, I am sorry. It was not my intention to do so, and please do not rate me negatively, or report it as abuse, because it was an honest mistake. I wish mylot had a delete button in order to delete discussions on our own, that way it would lessen all the recycled discussions. Does this ever happen to anyone else?

That happens. There are so many discussions going on here, all of them have probably been posted at least twice.

Yes I have done this and found that I got responses and the other one did not so I was really confused by it but I know that it can happen depends on what people are wanting to discuss from day to day.I think that some probably don't get responses because people want a real discussion and some donot bother to rate or even comment back so there are alot of factors I feel.

Every time I do a search before starting a discussion, nothing comes up. Then once I start the discussion, similar discussions show up at the bottom of it. Seems that the search doesn't work so well.

I try the search engine all the time, and it honestly doesn't always help. I posted about a news story just a few days ago about a teen who went to jail, only to find out that someone else had posted about it as well, and both of our topics were in the hot topics of the day that day. Man, I felt embarrased about that. But I had honestly tried the search first, and not come up with anything. I wish that there were an easier way to be certain that we aren't posting something repetitive, but with 60,000 plus users on the site the odds are that we can't post much of anything that hasn't been said in one form or another before, at least once in awhile! *laugh*

You cant avoid it anymore. Wih the growing number of people here in mylot, there's more and more people competing on new ideas.:P I often experience searching in mylotfor some discussions i have in mind , results are zero so off i go making a new discussion. Only to find out later that simlar topics already existed.
