I shop on ebay to buy shipping supplies. I sell custom made doll clothes and I buy all of shipping supplies on ebay. They have the best price. I haven't been burned by any sellers. But I am careful about who I buy from. I make sure that I buy from someone who has good feedback.

I not only shop on eBay, i work for a store that sells on eBay. We have around 15 employees who depend on sales on ebay to get our weekly wages, and we do alright. When I first started only 7 months ago, there were 8 of us. So, our sales have increased, therefore so has the need to hire more staff. We're looking at moving office as we really need a warehouse now as we don't have enough room for all the stock we have. We're selling around 1,900 items a week, but over the christmas period it was about 2,500. :) I go to eBay when I am looking for a hard to find cd most of the time. I bought a game once for my cousin and i never received it. But that was the only time i have ever had a problem. If i looked a little harder before bidding on it, i would have realised that the seller's account had been hijacked. Perfect feedback until the two months prior to me bidding. He'd been a member for 3 years and it only went downhill in the last two months.

If I am looking for a bargain eBay is the first place I look. I have never had a problem with a seller. Although once a package was lost in the mail. The seller was great about the whole thing. It all worked out in the end. I do think that some things sell for far more than they are worth. Especially after you factor in the shipping fees.

I [heart] eBay! I will frequently search there when I need a particular item. eBay is no longer just a worldwide garage sale... many official retailers set up shop there and you can use the Buy-it-Now feature to avoid waiting until the end of an auction and buy a new, unused product for a very competitive price. Of course, if you are looking for run-of-the-mill stuff, your local WalMart will likely serve you better. eBay might actually have a better price, but you must always factor in shipping and handling. The best way to look at your potential purchase is with the shipping price included. Do not bid on auctions that do not state the shipping and handling... try and get a quote from the seller. If a seller states they charge "actual costs", that's simply not good enough. Make sure you can pay with a credit card to maximize your protection should something go awry with the transaction. (In fact, eBay is soon going to make it so every seller must at least OFFER a credit card service.) Always check feedback. A lot of negatives, or rude comment should send you running from that seller. Finally, I do NOT recommend buying any "hot" electronics from eBay (or selling them, for that matter). This is such a high scam category that I just stay away... it's not worth the potential risk. I personally have not ever been burned by a seller... the closest thing would be when I was charged frightfully astronomical shipping charges because I neglected to ask about them beforehand... oops!
