I'm in a competition at work based on the TV show "The Biggest Loser". Because i really need to lose weight for health reasons not to mention, my fat girl clothes are getting too expensive lol. so anyway, i got amembership to the YMCA and i've been doing that and i'm trying to eat healthy. done pretty good with that so far except...I FEEL LIKE I'm STARVING! i feel like i'm just not getting enough to eat, almost to the point of being dizzy. but i now its justbeause my stomach is probably just gigantic and needs timeto shrink. I've tried snacking on light things between meals, can you give me any advice on what todo to not feelthis way, because if it keeps up i know i'm going to go psycho and eat like a whole pizza hut pizza! please help!!!

If you like fruit and veges try cutting them up and then when you feel hungry munch out on them or try yoghurt. Lots of water , try a large glass of water before you eat anything. goodluck and best wishes and please keep us informed how your going.

Good for you, thats great and yes you should be proud of yourself. I find that drinking 4x600ml bottles of water over a day helps me a little with hunger ,it also flushes out the toxins in your body, makes your skin look better and drinking icy cold water makes your motabolism speed up to create heat to warm up the water. A large glass of water will help to cut your food intake but you dont want too cut to much now because if and when you reach the plateu stage (stop losing weight)if you are already eating minimum food now you wont be able to cut back and will instead have to increase excersise

you should never let your body starve, if you eat 6 small meals a day (basiclly every few hours) then your body should know its getting enough food. the thing is your spreading out your meals and letting your body constantly work to break up small things instead of working hard to break up one huge thing. if you feel like that, you need to eat...no questions asked, i don't care of your dieting, its not about not eating, its about eating reasonably. apples and fruits are filling, and if you're dizzy you should be drinking over 10 glasses of water a day to keep your body hydrated as well. snaking is good, keep it up. but keep it small.

To avoid the starving sensation, prepare yourself some low calorie snacks, like unbuttered popcorn, pretzels, or hard candies and enjoy them in moderation. I am guilty of being a popcorn hound. I can eat bowls of the stuff! But I can't and remain on track, so I repeat snack in moderation!

Start drinking green tea, that will fill you up while causing you to loose weight. I did that and ate plenty fruit and veg, drink plenty water, walked at least 3 times a week for 30 minutes. Don't eat a whole pizza, keep some fruit on hand and eat that.Stay away from fried foods, eat baked fish chicken and turkey.(normal portion)

Don't really know how you are eating well, but I lost 35 lbs by just looking at the dinner plate differently. I envision the plate in halves. The bottom half gets filled with fruits and veggies (exxcept corn and beans). The remaining half then gets halved so that there are two quarters of the plate left. The meat/protein gets to go in fourth of the plate. It needs to fit the area (usually no bigger than a deck of cards). THe other half is the starchy vegetable like corn, peas, beans, etc. Or if you wanna be like me and move slower, that last quarter can be dessert. but you won't get the choice of corn or whatever other starchy veggie you like at that meal. I do this for lunch and supper. For breakfast, its what I can grab and go with most often. I prefer a bran muffin or a bagel with cream cheese. If that's not available then I will stop somewhere and pick up a biscuit. Hope this helps.

Thanks for that advice, it makes a lot of sense. I've heard that deck of cards thing before about meat. i think weight watchers teaches you that. its a good thing to be able to visualize proportion sizes, especialy when you are like me and have never had any concept of proportioning your food intake lol

It's tough when you've got that hunger. Maybe when you feel really hungry, have snacks ready that are healthy. I eat apples, oranges, carrots when I "feel hungry". I workout regularly, but like anyone else, I like burgers and fries etc, so I eat it only once a week as a treat. The rest of the week, I'm eating well and working out. Be careful, you need to stay disciplined and make sure you don't go overboard. You might want to check this out http://WomensHealthMadeEasy.blogspot.com Take care and good luck!

heather, There is a simple logic behind loosing weight. You ned to burn more calories than u consume. The fat did not accumulate in a single day so obiviously it wont go in a single day as well. u feel u r starving bcoz u ahve cut down on food, dieting does not mean u cut down ur food intake, dieting means eating healthy and filling ur stomach with the right kind of food(healthy food). let me take the liberty of suggesting u a diet u will be able to loose 18-25 pounds in about 2 months. u need to start exercising for abt 1 hour daily.the exercise should consist of walking, running and skipping. After the exercise have a glass of warm water mixed with Lime and honey--NO SUGAR. Drink lots of ater though water intake may differ from person to person i suggest u drink at least4-5 liters of water daily.try to eat a lot of cucumbers, carrots and raddishes.Increase the intake of vegetables in ur diet. Drink barley water which is really good. Avoid carbohydrates, fried foods and too much spicy food. This includes the whole pizza Hut pizza. try this for two months and notice the difference.

The best thing to do would be to find something to take your mind off of eating. Try watching a movie, taking a walk, or better yet keep posting here on Mylot lol. If you find something that keeps your mind off of it then your stomach will shrink and then you won't need the snacks as much. Use the YMCA membership and hang out there. Just being away from snacks will help. I know how hard it can be. My favorite hobby is baking so that doesn't help me much. It does give me something to snack on between meals so i'm not as starved and go eating the whole food store next door. Good luck and I hope you loose or win whichever is best for the biggest looser competition.

Oh Heather I feel for you girl. I need to lose weight badly but I just can't get motivated. But I'll be in the same boat as you very soon. The only thing I can suggest to you is popcorn. Becel has a new spray (butter) and it's only 1 calorie a spray. Apparently it is amazing on popcorn. So if you could pop some that is butter free and do that I think it would really help fill up your stomach. Good Luck.

When to Start Dieting? This one is for women: Never start a diet one week before your period. The hormonal imbalances will drive you nuts, will make you frustrated, and the water retained in your body will make appear as if you haven't shed a pound. Actually, you will look as if you took pounds. So spare yourself! The best moment to start a diet is two days after your period has started, when your cravings subdue and your body starts eliminating the retained water. It's better not only from a psychological point of view, but also from a physiological one. So, girls, did you know that the body retains up to 1 liter of water before and during your period? Keep that in mind next time you are complaining that you cannot lose weight. Personally, I retain even more sometimes. Anyway, I started this new way of eating. My friend lost 20 pounds almost following it in the US, and if she could do it there, I can do it here! The basic principles are the ones I have mentioned already. 5-6 meals a day and two or three more substantial. Never eat until you are full, just until you are not hungry anymore. Take out sugar so your insulin is not high and stopping you from losing weight. My daily intake varies from 1,200 calories to 1,500 calories. I don't think that going under this is helpful or healthy. In the morning I'm having a Diet Cereal Bar and half a glass of yogurt. Two-three hours later I have lunch (for example today I had three small pieces of chicken nuggets and 3 large spoons of eggplants and yogurt salad). Then I had one Diet (with fructose instead of sugar) fruit cheesy yogurt. Then I had dinner - other 3 pieces of nuggets, one egg, and lots of lettuce - and then one more fruity cheesy yogurt. I could have added more, but I feel ok. I am not hungry. I could use some fruits though.

1. Drink water Water is quite possibly the single most important catalyst in losing weight and keeping it off longer term. Water acts as an appetite suppressant by keeping your stomach full and fending off dehydration which can lead to false cravings/hunger. Water also helps your body metabolize stored fat by helping the kidneys flush out waste. When you don't drink enough water the liver which works to provide stored fat for energy helps the kidneys eliminate waste and becomes less effective at metabolizing fat. Drinking water ice cold burns about 62 calories a day. Your body has to work to raise that waters temperature to your body's temperature. This equals around 430 calories per week. 2. Eat regularly This means eating 5 times a day and the most important meal is breakfast. Make sure you fuel your body first thing in the morning to avoid hunger pangs later in the day. When you eat 5 times a day you will never feel hungry, make sure the total calories consumed are sensible and don't over eat in any of the meals learn portion size control! 3. Eat lots of fibre Eating adequate fiber foods to help keep things moving through your bowel. And like water, fiber rich foods bulk you up and make you feel fuller for longer. Fibre is found only in plant foods our bodies cant digest it to so it simply goes through the body. During the elimination process it cuts calories consumed by attaching to protein and fat that you eat along with it removes that as well In addition, high fiber foods are typically low in calories and filling, so you are reducing your calorie intake overall. Good fibre foods include: strawberries, apples, figs, chickpeas, potatoes, (with skins) broccoli, brown rice, beans, bran and nuts. 4. Consume more good fats There are good fats and bad fats Good fats provide you with essential fatty acids (linoleic and linolenic acids) needed for normal reproduction and growth, as well as for production of prostoglandin, a hormone like compound that regulates blood pressure, prevents blood clotting and lowers the risk of heart disease. For example, the reason oily fish is a great food stems from the fact that the essential fatty acids which it contains can actually help your body burn fat more efficiently and protect against disease. Get at least three portions of oily fish a week with Salmon, mackerel, herrings and sardines being good choices. 5. Get plenty of quality protein Quality protein is an effective weight control tool because of the satiety factor and its ability to keep you full for longer periods. It also balances out carbohydrates by preventing insulin spikes that cause energy loss and sugar cravings Protein helps to maintain muscle mass which is important in the fat burning process. Good choices include: Fish, shrimps, Low fat cottage cheese, low fat yogurt, skimmed milk, egg whites, s Weight gain is caused by consuming too many calories, whether they are from carbohydrate, protein or fat. 6. Carbohydrates can help you lose weight Don't believe what you read about carbohydrates being bad for you, they can actually help you lose weight! A diet containing good carbohydrates such fruits and vegetables, wholegrains and moderate in fat and calories, will result in weight loss Good carbohydrates will also help you combat hunger pangs as they are slowly realized into the body. When eating carbohydrates eat them "from the earth" with no refining or processing. These include whole grains, vegetables; fruits and beans. Sensible weight loss If you have read the above you will see that it is not the food group, but the quality of the food in it that's important for fast weight loss.

I am on the Biggest Loser diet and I am having trouble eating all that I am allowed. Figure out what u weigh, and u are allowed 7 cals for each pound of weight u weigh, not to go under 1200 cals, no matter what u weigh. If u can afford it, I would join the biggest loser club, there u have access to talk to the nutritionist to see if you are doing everything right. Good Luck

I lost 35 pounds drinking Herbalife shakes! The way it works, you drink a shake in the morning (you can also have a snack bar with your shakes) and a shake in afternoon and then you can a normal dinner (make sure it's a senseable dinner). In the shakes you can add fruits, nuts, etc. The shakes are great.

Losing weight is so hard, I try to stay relatively healthy through working out maybe once a week. I know that it's not much but it's difficult to take the time to work out more than that. It's probably better to work out than to cut down on eating too much, you'll just feel dumb if you don't get the nutricuion and sugar you need to stay alert.
