I'm getting more and more confused. I keep getting warnings and alerts from Paypal, eBay, my bank, and various other banks and financial institutions that I don't even have accounts with, all telling me to log in and verify my account information. I've read about something called "phishing" and am wondering if that's what these messages actually are?

Maybe it is due to some phishing activities. Impostors use this make use this kind of alerts lure you to login certain bank account the they are able to track down. you pass word as well as user name. If don't have accounts in these banks, just ignore the alert.

I would say that it is phishing. None of those companies will ever ask you through an email to verify your information. I kept getting emails from this credit card company saying that my online password has changed and to log in to verify it. I did not even have an account with that company. Most of those websites have a place where you can report strange emails to them. I usually do and I haven't got a strange email in a long time.

Yes, they are 'Spoof" or "phishing" sites. They are trying to get some personal information of yours to steal your identity. Simply hit the FORWARD button for ebay and paypal and send it to spoof@ (ebay or paypal).com. They write you back if its true oe not. As for the phoney banks and lotto wins, hit your SPAM button to get rid of them. NEVER answer any of them!

You should definitely not follow any links and give out any of your personal information. These are scam emails claiming to be from ebay and paypal. If you get an email and you are really not sure it is real or not, send it either ebay@spoof.com or paypal@spoof.com. They will let you know if they sent the email. This is becoming a big thing lately. People trying to steal your personal information.

I get these all the time. They are phishing and if you answer you are hooked. I copy and paste these messages and send them to the various institutions (PayPAl, E-Bay, etc.) to ask them if it is legit and to alert them of the scam.

Yes they all are spam mails, ignore them and better still delete them. I've got many such similar mails and from banks like Bank Of America, Some British bank..all where I have no accounts whatsoever. So just delete them and at any cost don't provide any information they ask. Genuine mails from eBay and paypal don't ask for passwords in the mail, so if one asks you, you should know its spam!

Yes, that is possible. But, if you do not have accounts with these, then you cannot even login into the sites. So, just ignore these mails or mark them as spam and block them.

Oh! be careful. Do not log onto directly from the links sent you by emails. Open web page of corresponding sites n try login but contact your finance companies before doing anything. Alert you again!

Your best bet is to never answer any unsolicited message from PayPal or Ebay. They might be geniune, but chances are they are not and they direct you to fake sites that ask for your checking account access numbers. When that happens it's time to run. Be safe: Delete all these messages from PayPal and Ebay.

Also, if you get anything from ebay saying you won something you never bid on or someone has emailed you a question about an item that doesn't sound like it's yours, you can just log into your "my ebay" section and check your won items, sold items, or my messages. If it's not in there, then the e-mail was a phishing e-mail. Most of them are.
