I think it's unfair to use the term "gypsy" because the people you are describing are not true gypsies, we call them tinkers and they only call themselves gypsies. They are the ones who choose a place to stay and then refuse to leave, epecting to get what they want. A real Romany gypsy is a traveller and will rarely stay in one place. They don't steal and they try to make an honest living wherever they go. Sorry, I just had to clear that up! Well, we have those "tinker" gypsies around here a lot and they have tried to take over land which wasn't supposed to be used as it was meant to be preserved but they refuse to leave and expect their kids to be able to go to whichever school they want even though they've not been around for long. They also steal in the literal sense and they steal by conning vulnerable people into handing over money they don't have.

She's right you know, I think the Romany gypsies probably get fed up of the tinkers (normally Irish gypsies) giving them a bad name, it's like if 50 kids are playing in a park and 2 of them decide to beat someone up, all the other 48 are classed as thugs too, just because those 2 couldn't control themselves.

Same problem here, they are violent and live by they own rules. But there are some that are integrated in society, gonna tell you a secret, I have a civilizate gipsy girlfriend that was one of the greats passions of my life.

There is something mysterious about gypsies, they wear colorful flowing clothing, sexy showing belly button, dark colored eyes. Makes you wonder what are really about underneath it all.

It is said that Gipsies, have lived in Egypt from the year 200 b.c. and that they were Pharos' slaves. The Gipsies were and some still are very good traditional craftmen and during the days of the Pharos the Gipsies made shields, swords and knives for soldiers. As slaves the Gipsies also had to row the big war ships. The Gipsies were nomads in those days. They travelled by means of wagons drawn by oxen from place to place across large areas in many parts of the world. They were housed in tents like most of the people in those days. It is also said that the Gipsies worked like today's circus people, they could shallow swords and fire. They were also fortune-tellers for pharos women. Although there were fears, these was also a curiousity about the powers of fortune-telling. The Gipsies who were less talented were forced to steal in order to take care of their families. The punishment for stealing was severe, one of their hands was cut off.

when one hears the story it gives the impression of an interesting rase..but if any of you come to romania and sees the gypsies from here,i am sure you would be as disgusted as i am..they also go in other countries and steal or begg on the streets and everybody knows romania as the gipsy land, and it's not fair...they make children since they are 12 or 14,they marry at 14 or 16..they make 5-10 children and send them on the streets...they sell their kids for big amounts of money, they have no laws,no respect and no education..most of them are to be feared because when they disagree with you they will take out their knife and cut you..i don't know about their origin but i know that in the present they are not socially integrated

heartonfire, This is not real gypsies! These are travellers looking to make a quick buck, they would steal from any one they have no heart? Real gypsies leave no trail behind them, when they make fires they cut out a circle of grass remove it then put it back after they have finished with the fire so the grass does not die! They are very clever and wise people, and very clean. The travelers in your country are evil to scare peoply that way.I hope all goes well, god bless.
