I am helping my boyfriend's mother plan a baby shower for her first grandchild (not mine) and we need ideas for gifts to give to the winner of the games we are planning to play. Not everyone is into the arts and crafty things, so we need different ideas. Any suggestions?

That sounds like fun...and congrats on the baby in the family. There are so many things that I could recommend. What you can do, to begin with, is have a lotto...they have the tickets at your local Staples, or Wal-Mart, and you give everyone one, as they come in the door, and the other half to each one, goes in like the drawing hat, and then you pick the winner at the end, and the prize can be one of those bath baskets, they are the best! (Bath stores probably have some on sale after Valentine's). Then, you could also give out little things like picture frames, a few bottles of lotion or creams (different kinds here and there). A charm bracelet, all sorts of things. Hallmark usually has tons of things. Amazon also, if you prefer to shop online. You can also give out smaller party favors for everyone so that no one feels left out. Hope you have fun (wish I could have come...lol).

Every baby shower I have attended the prizes were baby items to be given to the expectant Mother. I have never recieved gifts or prizes for myself at these showers. But if you want to do it different and actually let the prize winners take something home, the best things are candles, potpourri, dollar statue gifts.

I love baby showers. They are so much fun. Don't Cry Mommy! Object of the game: To acquire as many pins from other guests and win the doorprize. How to play: Each guest is handed a diaper Pin or clothes pin when they arrive. Have each guest listen for others to say the mommy's name. The guest who catches another saying the mommy's name is allowed to take the pin (or as many pins as she is wearing) away from the person who said the mommy's name The person with the most pins at the end wins the prize. ------------ Who's That Beautiful Baby? When mailing the invitations, enclose a request to have each guest bring their baby picture to the party. At the beginning of the party, you slip into another room and put each photo into a ziplock baggie with a number showing on the back. Bring out the photos on a bulletin board tacked up using the edges of the baggie and have each guest guess who belongs to which picture. this is such a fun game and everyone just loves it! The one who guesses the most wins. It's a nice ice breaker - so do this game early on. Download pdf Who's That Beautiful Baby? We gave out candles of different scents and for the door prize we bought a fancy candle in a martini cup that was chocolate scented, Also you can try little soap kits you can get for a dollar or coasters, cups. We have a store called the discount dollar and dollar tree and you can get pretty good gifts for a dollar or less well hope you find something that works for a treat for the guest we took spoons and put in 3 hershey kisses and wrapped it with tissue paper and tied it with thin ribbon look like a baby rattle they was a big hit.. I know you probably have it already planned out but thought I would suggest it.

Oh I love giving baby showers. I gave my last one when I was 8 mths pregnant. Here are a couple of games that I remember us playing. 1. Find products that you would use for a baby, you can find alot of it in the dollar store. Tape the things to the outside of the entrance door. Your guest will look at the decorations before they enter. Anyway give each guest a sheet of paper and have them to write down everything that they remember, whoever remembers the most wins a prize. 2.Jelly bean game- Get a baby bottle and fill it with jelly beans ask everyone to guest the amount of jelly beans in the bottle. The winner gets a prize. 3.How big is the belly guessing game. This one was fun, since both of us were pregnant, We passed tolit paper to everyone. The guests were to look at us and try to guess the size of the belly by pulling the amount of tissue that they think would fit around the belly. The person who came to the closest measurement won a prize. 4.Write the word baby shower on a sheet of paper give your guest only two minutes to see how many words they can make from that word. 5.Another game. When everyone gets there give them a beaded necklace to wear. Tell everyone that they cannot say the word baby the entire time, if so the person who hears them say the word will get their necklace. Who ever ends up with the most necklaces by the end of the shower wins. It's really hard not to say baby at a baby shower. 6.This one is really fun. Use your timer for this one. Form two teams. They will line up in two separate lines. Each team will receive a pull up.Each person will pull it up over their jeans and then take it off and pass it down to the next person. Which ever team had a chance to try on the pull up the most wins. 7.Divide two separate teams. The group leader of each team will be the one to dress like a baby. Give each team member a roll of tolit paper and tape. The job duty of the team members is to dress the group leader as a baby using tolit paper. They are suppose to make a pamper out of tolit paper and a bonnet. You will have a few in the audience to judge which team made the best outfit for the adult baby. You should separate the teams so that they can't copy each other. Ideas for gifts From the dollar tree or walmart you can give candles, mugs, nail polish remover etc From bath and body works you can get the miniture bath and body lotions for about $2.95 From the grocery store-you can give out miniture snacks or make small bags of candy and tie it up in colorful syram wrap and tie a bow on it. Hope this helps

One of the most popular prizes I've ever given at a shower were disposable cameras. Some people used them right away, at the shower, and others kept them for another use (but it was great if it happened to be someone that meant to bring a camera and forgot!). Food or beverage gifts are often appreciated -- chocolates, flavored coffees, herbal teas, cookies, candy. Actually, candy is fun if you give it away in a baby bottle - just fill a plastic bottle from the dollar store with some nice hard candy (you can match it to your color theme, if you like) and then tie a cute ribbon around it to make it look festive :) If you have time to make the cookies yourself, it's great to cut them into "baby related" shapes like rocking horses or something. Or, if you prefer, a gift certificate to the local coffee shop or candy/chocolate place is just as good! If the guests are all women, there's also things like inexpensive but pretty cosmetic bags, foot lotion/cream (the peppermint ones are fabulous), nail kits, small sewing kits (appropriate for a purse or handbag), etc. Hope the shower's a great success!

Some party favors for games might be: a nice coffee mug with a small packet of coffee in it and some of those chocolate covered spoons, (they have spoons with honey, rock candy, chocolate..all types!) Make a batch of homemade cocooa mix and put into really pretty containers and give them. (recipes for homemade cocoa are online) Those pretty oil burners for kitchens (they have things inserted in a bottle like chilipeppers etc for color and the top is a wick). Those are all I can think of that haven't been mentioned. Have a great time at the shower!

My mom bought a couple of gift certificates for manicures and pedicures at a local nail salon for my baby shower. If you have a local massage spa or salon those are always nice. Most of all remember who will be recieving the prizes are they busy working moms or stay at home moms career minded or family oriented and purchase a selection of gift for each group. Even gift certificates for dinner for two. Fancy choclates and candys are always fun. Most of all just have fun and enjoy this wonderful time women love to get together to celebrate anything so enjoy.

In addition to the ideas already suggested: potted fresh herbs make a lovely gift and they are fairly inexpensive. Even if the recipient doesn't cook often, the herbs look lovely set up in a kitchen or on a window sill.

There are a couple of cute ones I know. Put some cotton balls in a jar and have people guess how many are in it. Make little baby diaper pins for people to wear when they come in and dab a little soiled one on the inside and at the end of the party see who has the soiled one by having everyone open the diaper up, they win the prize. Have people list as many baby related items like: diaper, bottle, pacifier etc., and see who comes up with the most on their lists.

Candles seem to be popular everywhere.A center piece. Of course the showers I usually attend give prizes suitable to the theme, baby things for baby shower, homemaking gifts for weddings, then at the end of the games, everyone dontates the prizes as another gift to the honoree. For instance, bibs, pacifiers, sippy cups, bottle brushes, to the mom to be. Spatulas, measuring cups, kitchen cloths, pot holders, bottle openers to the wedding showeree. Just a thought.

We pulled a line out of 10 nursery rhymes and put them all on paper and timed the gals to see who got the most titles to match the lines correct in the shortest time at my sister's baby shower. Pin the diaper on the baby is fun too, lol.

I go to like walmart or target and get things that are pretty inexpensive... Small picture frames, candles, small things like that... I also love to play baby bingo, and crosswords, it is a lot of fun to play games like that, another one is guess how many.. You ask everyone to make a guess on how many pieces of toiletpaper it would take to go around the expecting mothers belly... Then you see who gets the closest. it is a lot of fun too..
