Have you ever donated your blood?

There are many places where blood donations can be made. There are blood banks and blood donation camps conducted where one can donate blood. you can also donate at a nearby blood bank or hospital. i am O+ a universal donar so i donate blood atleast once in a year. i have even donate to one of my friends daughter who is a thalesemia patient who requires regular transfusion. have you ever donated blood? if anyone is in urgent need of blood, will you go forward to offer your blood?

I have given blood several times. I try to go just about every 8 weeks, since that's how long you have to wait between donations. Lately I haven't done it though because I traveled outside the country and I have to double check to make sure that I'm still allowed to donate depending on the countries I visited, but as long as I'm able, I will definitely continue to donate often. It makes me feel really good to help.

nice that you donated many times. even if you travelled outside the country you could donate if you feel you are healthy enough. but i think you need to get checked up before you can start up donating again.

I have thought of it before, but at this point I have never done it. My boyfriend has donated blood on numerous occasions, and I suppose it would be a good idea for me to do it too. Now that I'm no longer on medication, now would be a good time.

nice to hear that you donated and want to again. but donating again within next three months is to early i feel. atleast a six months gap between two donations would be good.

The officer that took my blood said that, and I've read general guidelines of blood donation from American Red Cross it says that you must not have donated blood in the last 8 weeks (56 days), so i guess three months is OK

I have, but not in many years. I am not sure why, exactly. My husband always donated when he was in the Service, and I always did when I was in school. I guess getting away from the influences of our co-workers and peers has lessened our ambition towards it. *shrug*

Blood banks will not take my blood. i have platlet, white blood cell, and red blood cell issues. Also, my blood has been severely radiated from all the x-rays i had in the hospital. i go for blood work ever 2 weeks as it is. If i COULD donate, i would. A lot of people donated in my name wheni was in the hospital so i could get the transfusions i needed. i would like to give back in the same way, but i am unable. Makes me sad, actually.

nothing to be sad xfallenxlostx. it is great that people are generously donating in your name. they are really lucky to know to whom their blood has been transfused. and you should be happy for all those who are there to give. blessed be

I have already donate some of my blood for the reason that my father needed blood tranfusion and we arent match. I am O and he was B so the hospital his in said that inorder to replace the blood they gave to my father, we should donate some of our blood so my cousin, my partner and my partner's friend donated. And if ever someone needs any blood again and we are of the same type, i would offer my blood.

I have not donated my blood so far,if there is an emergency then I will donate, I am also O+ universal donor nowadays O+ has no much significance, they prefer the same blood groups only if it is an emergency then they take O+ blood group, I was told by my cousin who is a doctor.

why only in emergency ? you can even donate at blood camps if you wish. some blood groups like AB+, AB- etc need the same group for transfusion. yes in very urgent cases they woul accept o+, agree.

Yes, and the first and last time I donated my blood was for my mother. I was a bit aprehensive at first, but did not have any second thoughts when she needed it. That was a great experience. And I saw another youngster, a first timer, offering blood for my mother, and seeing the determinationa nd fulfilement in his eyes, I decided to donate blood more often. I am still waiting for a chance.

wow ashjoe. never got that luck to give back to mother when she needed. i feel you did a wonderful job. if your mother did not require blood, then you wouldnt have decided to donate blood more often. certain situations in life makes us do noble acts and continue further...loved your response

i cannot donate blood due to high platelets and the fact that i have had too much radiation and too many transfusions. i really appreciate those who donated blood, especially those who donated in my name.
