Did you know that it's possible for a turtle to have a c-section? Workers in a Chinese zoo decided to check on one of their turtles because it was feeling so lethargic. They were amazed to find out that the turtle was carrying 14 eggs in her body! They had to figure out a way to give the turtle a c-section to help her with her difficult labor because of there being so many eggs trying to come out. If you want to read more, the story is here: http://www.ananova.com/news/story/sm_2207879.html?menu= What do you think? Isn't medical science amazing? Have you ever been through something like a c-section?

In some ways medical technology is grand. The preservation of species is our duty and in this situation it must have been needed. Medical science can help or hinder. It is proven that most of the C sections done are not necessary. However, for those women that it helps and they survive it is a wonderful thing. Again a technology that should add to our lives. In the case of the turtle it was a good thing.

Poor turtle, No, I have never had a C-Section. Did it say what the hold up was?I did not read the whole article. I guess maybe I should. Modern veterinary medicine is wonderful.

aww...the poor turtle. I'm glad they noticed something was wrong with the turtle! Nope, I've never had a c-section. I have two kids and I hope if I ever get pregnant again that I don't have to have one. Truthfully, I'm more scared of being cut open then having a kid with no pain meds!

This is fascinating! What amazes me is they sent this turtle to a "human" hospital?! Wow! Poor turtle... she must have been terrified to hide for so long in her shell. Wouldn't it be neat if we could know what she was thinking? LOL I've never been through a c-section myself but I know people who have and the recovery was a bit difficult. I hope Dabao, the turtle mom, has a speedy one! :)

I have never had a c-section. My daughter had one 16 months ago. Wonderful grandson. I am so glad that medical science was used for the good of the turtle. This was a very interesting story to read. Thank you.

Wow! That is pretty cool! I had never heard of a turtle having a c-section! Poor momma turtle! At least they were able to help her! And I hope that epoxy is good enough for the shell! Does a shell mend like a bone?

I have never had a c-section. But I have had my tubes ties. Which left a two to three inch scar from being cut for the procedure. It hurt like heck when I came to. So bad I was afraid to cry. Yes, I know turtles can have c-sections. The only problem is when you put a turtle under. Most times they do not wake back up. I learned that by watching ER Vets on Animal Planet
