I saw a man dead the other day ...

My boyfriend, son and I were taking a quick trip to CVS to pick up some stuff the other day, and we were met with a shock. The boys stayed in the car and I ran into the store to pick up a few odds and ends. I come out and I see my boyfriend out of the car on his cellphone. After he hangs up I ask him what is going on. He points to a car parked out front and says "I think this guy is dead. We tried to wake him up for the past 20 minutes but he hasn't woken up." This man was old, had to be about 70, and was sitting behind the wheel of his car. I walked over and looked at him, and he wasn't breathing. We waited for the police to come, and then we went home. It is so sad ... This story got no news coverage at all. Someone just died out in a public place and no one even thought to mention it. I wanted to post this just so he can be remembered in some small way.

Sorry that you had to see that, but now you know I felt when the police found my brother's comatosed body in a heated 108 degree car. I had to watch my 20 years of age brother die in a hospital room. My own flesh and blood.

How nice of you to memorialize him in this small way. Perhaps many others just thought he was asleep.

I think you are so right. Most times the little man goes unremember and I bet you he was kind to everyone and a loving person. You know who we as a world of people celebrate? The people who are most disruptive to society. You go girl. I respect what you have done. I have noticed, so will others.

it is very kind of you and your husband to care for this old man even though he is a stranger to you... not so many people care for each other anymore in this modern society... so i find it really rare to find a person like you and i am glad that at least there are still a handful of kind and caring person exist in this crazy world... hope your kindness will be rewarded one day which i am sure it will... have a nice day...

What a horrible way to die with no family members around, how very nice of you to try and remember him, and not uncommon that it would be in the paper, unless they are shot, beaten or abused by the police here it does not make the local news. Thanks for sharing

Thank goodness he was noticed or you could have been there until closing. Unless News media is called there is no news coverage for tv.If they was called , the mans wife may do have wanted it on the new. Maybe they had kids or family members they was waiting to contact with the news.It was good your bf noticed. How did he find this guy was out of it ?It was nice of him to make that call a lot of people just will not do it these days because they do not want to get involed. You two are nice people to stay there until the police got there.

thats quite a shame but i suppose police deal with that sort of ting on a day to day basis they are probably trained to deal with it. i think that its sweet that you would try and give some sort of recognition to the man and he would probably be very grateful. I do not know how I would handle such an unusual situation but i think your boyfreind handled it very well calling th e police.

How tender your heart is. It is indeed very sad. I hope someone knows him, and can claim him, so he can get a proper burial. So many of us older people have no one. It is scary.

It is sad thing when someone passes away. They may have not said anything because they had to locate his family. You have to wonder how long he was out there and why people didn't check on him before. sighs....sad

That is sad, that no one even cared to acknowledge the passing of a human life.

sometimes with our busy lives, we tend not to pay attention to small things. there maybe many people who have seen that man in his car but nobody paid attention till you do.

That poor man! I hope he wasn't there too long. What a horrible way to die, alone in a car. You are very sweet for caring enough to pay a small tribute to him.

You did your best to try and help him and that's what matters. It was very thoughtful of you to post this in his rememorance.
