Do you and your partner have PET NAMES for each other?

I read in a redbook article that having pet names for each other makes a relationship stronger. Intimacy is strengthened by sharing this private secret. WHile other people may hear you calling each other by your pet names, most of the time, people don't know the history of the pet name... as in how the pet name came to be or stories behind the pet name. Right now, my husband and I call each other MAHAL (Filipino word for LOVE). But when we were dating, he called me BUKO PIE (coconut pie) because I loooved buko pie and everytime he travelled somewhere South, he'd have to bring home a box of buko pie for me by hook or by crook. I used to call him MACAROON (eww... corny, so unfitting a man with a towering height!). I gave him that monicker since he gamely ate a batch of macaroons I gave him as a gift even if they were burnt and tasted awful. I'm sure you have stories to tell... so, give! =)

My husband hates pet names, especially honey. As a joke I started calling him "Baby" ... which actually kind of stuck until we started having babies! He calls me "Wife" which might not seem like that sweet of a name, but he says it with such meaning because he says he will never call anyone else that. I also call him by his full name, which he doesn't allow anyone else to do.

Hmnn... The monicker "wife" seems quite impersonal, but when you listen to his logic that it's reserved for you and only you, it sounds sweet =)

Goodness gracious, what an odd name to call your girl. She doesn't mind? Well come to think of it, some people do use petnames like fat a**,chinky eyes, big eyes to let their partner know that what other people find as their weakness is actually attractive for you, the partner. Hmmnn... which reminds me, my husband used to call me "big tummy" when I was soooo pregnant. It was his way of letting me know he thanks me for carrying our son in my womb.

Ya i too think that calling by Petnames make ur relationship stronger n stronger. My Hubby calls me 'Jaanu' or sometimes 'Baby or Baccha'. I call him 'Beta' or 'jann' or 'Dev'. In my country we cannot take name of our husband ,as elders say. but privately most of them take. I call him 'DEV' even if elders are there coz thats different from his original name.

I was in a relationships once where we called each other dingdong and twinkie, yes because of the food. Also Wilma and Charlie, it's a big secret why though. Was in another relationship where we called each other "love" but he never treated me like he loved me. My last relationship we called each other mommy kong, daddy kong and our baby, baby kong. I found it really sweet. We could add words to it like baby kong maganda... means my beautiful baby. Too bad we split. Once in a while I still call him that and I still call my baby that.

My husband calls me baby or honey, he always has since we've been together (10 yrs). I have always called him PoohBear because I love Winnie the Pooh and I love him.
