Do you want someone to climb a mountain and spread you to the four winds? Or are you to sit on someones mantle in an expensive vase? Speak to me, what would you like?

I am not planning on cremation BUT if I were to be cremated I would want some of my ashes sprinkled over my grandma's and parents graves. Some sprinkled over mountains. I would also ask my kids and hubby to keep a small amount for each in a pendant. Alternately I would ask that they have my ashes made into 'diamonds' so my kids could wear me as jewelry.

Yes, I can just see teenage kids going "Oh yuk mum, gross, I don't want you hanging around my neck". LOL.

I don't think my kids would go for the diamonds ..... then again they probably would rather that then the actual ashes in a vial.

I don't know how to start this :) You know,of course, that I left behind my home and moved 700 km away,in the name of love :)) Well:back home, where my parents and my ancestor's graves are, there is a place which I cherish most of all:I often found my inner peace there. That place in on my parent's land: on a hill, there is a headspring.Near that headspring there is a small valley. On the other side of that valley is a beautiful forrest. It's a quiet, peaceful and more beautiful in its own solitary than any words can describe.I forgot to mention about wildroses. They grow all around that headspring! That's the only place I would like my ashes to be.I don't care if they are put in a vase and burried there or if they are spread so that I become one woth the wind that sings along with nature there. The main thing is to be in that place. It means the world to me.

Ahhhh Tammuz, you took me on a journey to your special place. Like the ancient days of the earth when nature was at it's most beautiful. Thank you so much.

You are most wellcome.I am sory that I am not capable of sending you little mind-pictures to see that place with your own eyes. It's impossible not to fall in love with nature after you see that little magical and peaceful place! :)

No need for photos. Hey, maybe one day you will show me. The world is small and you never know what's around the corner.

As per our custom, I will be burnt and ashes & bones will be flown to river Ganga. I would not like to spread over mountain my ashes. It is time taking and expensive also. Our custom also do not allow to spread over mountain. Flowing into river Ganga is sufficient.

Your custom, does it have something to do with the River of Life? Would love to know the symbology behind this custom. Please come back and answer question. Or will have to look it up..... Thank you.

Does that pollute the water? I know it's custom, but I heard there were some pollution problems because people were putting cremations into the river.

I haven't decided if I wanted to be cremated or not. I can't decide. I think if I were to decide to be cremated though, I would prefer my ashes to be scattered somewhere vs sitting on someone's mantle top.

I would never want to stay in an urn, I like my freedom too much!!!! I've told my children that that they can take my ashes up on the south downs and throw me to the wind, there is a special place up there where my partners ashes were let free and I want mine to be in the same place.

Thank you ginagee, a free spirit indeed. You've been very quiet lately. Heartness to you.

I want someone (preferably my husband) to take my ashes to the ocean. I want to be sprinkled in the water. This way I could always be with my family as long as they got to an ocean.

The ocean has a very contemplative feel, so many people sit on the beach or rocks and think about the most profound things about life. There is often a real sense of peace we get from it. So fitting that people want their ashes to become a part of it.

I really don't care what's done with my ashes as long as parts of my body is used to help other people are taken care of before I'm cremated is all I care about. My ashes could be spread out over any place. Or they could sit on a mantle or a shelf. I mean I really don't care for I won't be around to tell them what to do. It's up to my kids what they want to do with it. My husband already said if I pass before him, he will keep them until he passes then plans on having his combined with mine, so we are together forever I guess. I don't won't mine to be in a expensive vase, I mean what's the point. I will be ashes. I got the idea of being cremated from my husband's grandparents.

Thanks for sharing chertsy. There is something romantic about the combining of ashes, if you're so lucky to have a loved one.

Having experienced out of body experiences during meditation, I understand that the ashes would not be ME. I understand it is just a metaphor for ME. The real me would still exist on some level. I would like for people to remember me with joy, and remember what joy I brought to their lives. It feels too creepy to have someone's ashes in my space... I wouldn't want to have others do that for me. I love nature.. and we came from dust, it's okay to return. I think it should be scattered in places in nature..

Imagine if you wanted to be scattered over Mt Everest. Your loved ones would have to learn mountain climbing!

nope.sorry. do not want my ashes to be spread all over. don't want to be cremated i rather have my body donated to the science, or giving my body orgens to someone who needs it. from the age of 18 i have an a.d.i card which gives premission if somthing happens to me to donate my orgens..not that i think anyone will want them..lol..but still but if i had just one choice and that was to be cremated, i would ask the person that is the closest to me to have a big happy party on a yacht and spread it while singing in the sea:)

You could get both choices. After taking the organs needed the body is 'laid to rest' so it could still be cremated and thrown overboard to the clink of champagne glasses. Cheers to a good life!

Hi Tetchie..... Seriously now....I've always wanted to be flushed down a toilet. the man who set up my paid burial account told me this wouldn't be possible (he was shocked ) So I've arranged to have my relatives do it...(laughter here)..... I feel that our physicals are of the Earth so why not let them go back to the earth?

I got a nice giggle out of this one. Never have I heard that someone wanted to be flushed down the toilet. It would have to be one of the biggest cosmic jokes of all time. LOL.
