How many of you respond to a discussion before you real all the other responses, and how many of you respond to a discussion after you read all the other responses? Mostly I respond without reading other people's responses, as I don't want to feel like I'm competing with the other responses, or that I have been influenced by what they wrote. After I post my response, then I'll read other responses, and sometimes respond to the responses. Any thoughts on this?

I mostly follow the main post. Some time, rarely, I follow other's responce because of their (mis?)interpretation! And then I try to get through that ... Who has started the discussion has the themetic thought. So to follow that would help us to organise our thought/s regarding that! Then I go and read other's point of view or thoughts! And if feel to discuss more then I again post!

I rarely read the other responses before I reply. Most of the discussions I reply to come through to me via email so when I hit the respond button it doesn't give me the option to read the other responses. I don't usually go back and read the other responses unless the topic is a particularly interesting one to me.
