How long do you wait to rate a best response?

I have some discussions that are still unresolved, some don't have many responses, but some have quite a few. I like to wait a little while to see if anyone else responds. (I have gotten behind in checking on them too because of family matters). I guess I need to get better about it. I just feel bad if I choose a best response then a better one comes along. I also feel like if I choose a best response too soon it may make others not want to respond. I guess I'm just not familiar enough with what's really important here. What's your thought on this, How long do you wait to choose a best response for your discussions?

My style would be to wait for about 10 to 15 responses. In this way, I can get to read more responses and learn. However, there are times, the first response convince me right away and I'd award a best response, regardless of future postings.

According to the FAQ page here on myLot they suggest waiting a few days to rate the best. I find myself waiting till that one reply really sticks out above the others. So I too have quite a few unresolved response or whatever the official name is that myLot calls it. I have usually given this honor to a well thought out & well written reply that tends to do more than help me resolve the topic also. Thnaks for the opportunity to give a reply about the best rated reply etc.

When i use to start discussions i use to wait i think 2-3 weeks.I got behind and i had so many unresolved discussions that i recently gave everybody their best responses from back..I started one a few days i guess i will wait a while and see how many responses.I hate that to when you mark best response and then theirs another one thats also good.I wish the would have it so where you can choose atleast 3 users as best response.Like 1st,2nd and 3rd place

I wait a week before I pick a best response. I'm busy and don't always get to respond to discussions the same day they are posted. It's really depressing for me to respond to a discussion and see that someone has picked br and it's a response that stinks as far as I'm concerned - I've even seen this happen, someone picks a best reponse when they'd only posted the discussion and hour and had one response :(
