Because of expensive amount of Operating System and other software i always prefer to buy a pirated copy of software. My Windows XP are come from a pirated copy and even my Microsoft Offices. If i bought a Licensed copy of Windows XP i need a $100 or more, unlike in pirated you should have $2-$3 then you have a copy of windows xp. I know this is violation but i just use it for personal. Unlike the other they'd copied and sell it. Do you buy licensed or a pirated software?

I personally feel that if ur using pirated versions of the copy not only ur causing loss to the company which in turn is a loss to a lot of people. The money the company wud have earned would have gone into R&D of new OS and resulted in jobs to thousands of people.Imagine if MS cud reduce piracy by 10% it wud create jobs for 50000 people. Moreover pirated versions have a lot flaws in them.if u dont want to pay i suggest u go for Linux which is better than MS in terms of security and other features. Always Buy original.

I agree wholeheartedly. When you pirate software, music, movies, etc, you are causing a loss to the little people, not the big guys. Every time you pirate a copy of something you are taking the money away from the guys on the low end. The secretaries, mechanics, industrial workers. They are the ones that suffer the consequences. They are the ones that lose jobs in the cutbacks. Not the CEO's and managers. I know it's expensive, but if you want quality, you have to pay for it unfortunately.

I partially agree with you. But software manufacturers like Microsoft should reduce their price for poor countries. They are sometimes charge too much for their products. However, opensource softwares are good choice for users. I support Open source software movement, however.

When you purchase pirated software you are hurting the company and driving the costs even higher. With the newest Windows OS if you have a pirated copy of anything on your PC it is not suppose to run. You are doing something illegal since you are using another person’s license when you run a pirated version of software on your PC. I don’t think $100 is much to spend on any software. Of course, most of the software I require for my job is at least $300 even with a student discount.

I don't think that piracy makes the original software's cost more higher. I think that a higher cost makes the piracy continue to exist. Computer users really wanted a original copies, but how could they have that if the price are almost equal to the family budget for one month. If they want to stop piracy i think they should lower the price of their product.

I use pirated software too. Indonesia was nothing, although many computer producer sold so many of their products here but none of the software company did not even care. So is it wrong if we pirated them ? And now some of the software company come to Indonesia and ask people to change to the original one, in a high price. Hell, who want it ? We already pirated it and we can pirated more. If they don't sell us in lower price, no way we change to the original one.

I think its ok with microsoft company to patronize pirated software if is for personal use. But if for business you need to have a licensed. The main logic is you can patronized microsoft products so that you will be familiarized with their software. For ex: using Microsoft Operating System. Most of the software/utilities released by microsoft is compatible with their OS unlike linux and other OS.

Ok.I don't if this is true, I've heard this before..that you need a 1 licensed copy on operating system to a 1 unit of computer. So if running a internet cafe then you should have more copy of licensed operating system.

I do have a pirated one but iam having pc problem right now. It keeps on shutting down and disk checking. Iam not sure though if it was because of that or something else. The original version are so expensive. I think its ok to use the pirated ones if it is for home use only.

I do not use pirated spoftwares but If you are knowingly using it for commercial purposes, then you can do some jail time, but if you get caught using it for personal use, the worst that can happen would be, that it gets confiscated.

To be honest, Yes i do use pirated software, there is aplace close to me that sells all that stuff... Anyways Windows XP is really expensive and i just got it for 5$. I also got my photoshop from this place and some videogames that were burnt. But the thing is that from what i heard, when you buy stolen things and pirated software is in a way stolen, you are the one who pretty much stole it... This is kind of confusing :P

I think you're violating the law if you buy pirated then you burn and sell it. I suggest that keep it as a personal use.

I do not feel the need to buy pirated software as there is plenty of freeware online that matches upto standards. At present, for free i have got, professional office software, a great paint/photoshop, many virus protection systems, a firewall , a few adware and spyware scanners and alot more. p.s i dont think it was wise to broadcast that you use pirates on a site with alot of viewers lol

I understand why people do it. The software companies charge a fortune for software and it is normally full of bugs and security failures. If software was cheaper - people would be far more likely to buy it. The only issue with pirated software, lots of companies now do products checks, to ensure that it is a genuine copy. Before they will let you download updates. But there are always ways round these.

i think most of the people around the world are using pirated softwares because its completely out of reach to buy original software for middle class people.nobody wants to use pirated copy but we have no other choice.i think only big cooprates can afford it.a genuine copy of XP will cost you around $450 but you can get a pirated one for $2.5.and both will work the same way.

I agree on you..if the software manufacturer will lessen the cost of their softwares..People would benefits a lot, not only those on the corporate and even those poor individual that want to explore the worlds of technology. And this will stop piracy.

I really live a sheltered life! My software (Windows XP)came installed on the computer I bought. I would never consider buying pirated software...I wouldn't even know how to do that...I've never heard so much justification for stealing before. Wow...I don't know what to think. Just think if you were the person who invented or wrote the program...you would expect to get paid for your work and expect to get a residual from every copy sold. How would you like it if everyone bought stolen copies, or bought one copy and shared a copy with all of their friends? It's okay because you are going to use it only for your personal use? Wow...

I think nothing is wrong with that(admitting).I'm against piracy but i have no other choice. Poor people can't afford to buy expensive software or operating system. If there is an optional softwares for poor people which is affordable? why not to buy a licensed? The good thing is I've never sold any pirated software.

I use pirated copies of Windows2000 and MS-Office for my personal. I think, there's no problem using these softwares for personal purpose as the price of these softwares are too high for us. This helps us to use computers in low cost. Thus computing spreads in our country very fast.
