A Storage Idea for Women

United States
February 28, 2007 8:29pm CST
Sorry men this one isn't for you.... I have 13 and 16 year old daughters. We all seem to hit that time of the month within a two week period. I got so tired of the boxes of tampons, pads and pantyliners on the floor next to the toilet. Here's what I did: I went to the craft store and got a paper mache box. I am going to paint it. So now we store a supply of each in that box and when the lid is closed it looks nice and neat. Of course if you don't paint they sell all sorts of pretty storage boxes.

That's a good idea. I have cupboards in my bathroom to store the stuff in, so I don't need boxes, but for those who do not have cupboards, the boxes are a fantastic idea. thanks for sharing this with all of us.

I have a cabinet but it is full for one. For another, it is next to the toilet so when you open the door you can't reach around it. Now if it were across from the toilet, then I would just keep them in there.

What a great idea. I have a 14 year old and a 17 year old. I may do something to this effect as well. Thank you.

LOL an advantage to being "old" don't have to deal with that stuff anymore - yep been through the old lady thing and loving it. This is a neat idea though - I still keep a few in the house for times when daughter is here and gets a surprise but those are stored in the back of the cupboard under the bathroom sink. One day my daughter was over and left the box sitting on the counter, 15 year old son went in after her and you would have thought it was the end of the world "That is gross I don't wanna see those things, come get this out of here" - it was the box, closed and everything... boys!

Would you happen to have a similar innovative idea to deal with the... mood changes that accompany such periods of the month? My girlfriend and me would be VERY grateful. =P

Thank you for calling my idea innovative. I wish I could come up with something for the mood changes. Has your girlfriend talked to her doctor, they have meds now that can help?

Yeah the pill helps. There are some newer ones that are suposed to be better still for helping with the mood swings and other symptoms.

Oh, she got much better when she started taking contraceptive (is that the word?) pills. Her periods became much more regular too. But still, there are a few unexpected mood swings here and there. =)

That's a good idea. I got tired of all the products I had to buy, store, then toss out. So I switched to the diva cup. 1 thing, small, reusable.

Its a small plastic cup that you insert almost like a tampon. The cup fills, then you just pull it out, empty it into the toliet, wash it off, and reinsert.

I have a 14 and 16 year old and we all cycle in the same week most of the time. It drives my hubby nuts, poor guy. That is a great idea since we all like to use something different.

Well I hope it works for you. I understand fully about the hubby - mine is the same way.
