Hi! Lately, I have been seeing so many wonderful species of fish and I want to own them all! LOL What kinds of fish would you love to own? What would be your "dream" aquarium? I would love to have a reef aquarium, a salt water aquaruim with blennies, picasso triggers, and maybe clownfish and starfish, and an african cichlid tank. What would you love to own? :-)

I don't have one but love them. I love those little colorful fish with the big tailfins. My vet has those in his waitingroom and they are so pretty. I would love to have an aquarium, but not sure how much maintenance they need.

Hey! You might be referring to guppies. I have tequila sunrise guppies, their tails are large and fan out, and they are brightly colored orange and yellow. Guppies are really pretty fish. Aquariums aren't as hard to maintain as you might think. When I was setting up my first one, I didn't feel like I had a clue what I was doing. By the time I set up my third, I didn't need directions! LOL To get them ready, most of the time you just need to let the water cycle for 24 to 48 hours (if you're impatient like me and can't wait to get the fish in them LOL), and bring the water temperature to about 76 to 78 degrees. Blue tetras are good fish for a new aquarium. They are hardy and they help build up the "good bacteria" that fish need. I have one that jumped out of my little tank and fell to the floor, about a 5 foot drop, three or four times, and he's fine! Hard headed little guys! LOL You really only have to change the water, about 20 to 25 percent, once every one to two weeks, depending on how quickly the tank gets dirty. A gravel vacuum does it all, it scoops up the food, etc, out of the gravel and drains some water out. Then all you have to is replace the water. That's it! It's a lot easier than people make it sound. :-)

Hi! Yes, you're right, once a week is the best way to do it. :-) I don't keep plants because of my cat. He eats plants and it's hard to know which ones are toxic to cats. Otherwise, that would be a great use for water that ends up getting thrown out onto the lawn! :-)

I like to do a 10% to 20% water change each week. You can use this water to water your plants (as long as it is a freshwater aquarium).

I am planning on putting in a fish room with up to 100 tanks for breeding fish. I have a 150 gallon tank that will be for breeding altum angelfish (very few people have had them breed in captivity but I have some tricks that I plan on using to help them to breed in that tank). I am hoping to be able to eventually move to southern Texas so that I can raise tropicla fishes out doors year round. It is a lot cheeper toheat down there that here in "Taxachussetts".

Hi! Wow, that sounds amazing! Would you go into business then, selling the fish? I would love to find a female tequila sunrise guppy. I have two males and I've been told that the breeders don't sell the females (it's a market control thing). I think you'd have a big market if you made it into a business.

See if you can find some albino female guppies that have not been bred, You will then get the typeof guppies from these albino that you are looking for.Yes you will possible get some albinos but those would be good for breeding to get certain traits that you are looking for.

Hi! That was actually suggested to me, that I could try to breed the TS guppies with other guppy females. Maybe I should seriously consider that, since the pet store hasn't had TS guppies in since I bought these two. It just irks me that breeders control certain fish by not allowing the rest of us to breed them! :-)

I would like to replace some of those that we have lost over the last couple of years. We had several cichlids, a couple of gouramis, and a couple of clownfish, along with some assorted swordtails, and a few of those shark-looking catfish. Right now we have a black moor, five good sized plecos, several newts and a bunch of big apple snails in a 55 gallon tank. I have seen some of those salt water setups, and they would be great. Money and space are an issue right now so that will stay on hold for now. I would also have to familiarize myself with a salt setup as I am sure they are much different then our fresh water tank.

Hi! I haven't been brave enough to try to keep a salt water tank. I would love to have one with picasso triggers (such unusual looking fish) and tangs. My largest tank is 30 gallons and I have two blood parrots, two angelfish, and a pleco in that tank. I just set up an african cichlid tank. I guess I gravitate toward cichlids - such amazing fish! :-)

I would love to have a marine aquarium with seahorses, pipefishes and sea dragons. I just love these species, I adore the way they change there colours to fit to their environment, the way they hang with their cute tails, the how fragile they are and the fact that they are absolutely monogamous and the male carries the females eggs until their hatching. I love everything about seahorses, I believe they are of the most cute marine species. Unfortunately I have nor the space to keep an aquarium neither the time to dedicate.

To own any sea horses they have to be captive bred and sea dragons have not been bred comercially yet, plus they are a cold water species that do not do well with other species of fishes. Even public aquariums have a hard time obtaining the sea dragons.

Hi! That would be incredible. I would love to see that done more - aquariums that can be built into housing designs. I think you'd really enjoy having clownfish (nemos LOL). I've heard you don't necessarily have to have the anenome to go with them, either. :-)

Sea Horse - sea horse in an aquarium
I've always admired salt water aquariums but I'm as good with fish as I am with plants! LOL Let's just say I have no dreams of opening a fish and landscaping business! My favorite things to watch are sea horses. Those creatures are truly captivating to me.

I saw somewhere (cant rememebr where , it was probably on the net) a picture of someones aquarium, it was amazing, he had mad it out of those hamster tubes and it went all around the whole room! I want one in my house.

Hi! Wouldn't that be so awesome! I've seen those in a catalog from That Fish Place. You can set them up to go from tank to tank or just in the hood, so the fish can have a little tunnel in the hood of the tank to swim up into. The local pet store here has an acrylic aquarium with "tunnels" leading from one tank to the next, but the owners told me that the company that made it went out of business.

My dream tank would be the length of a room. Salt water tank with an assortment of fish. But the dream would be that I would not have to take care of it .... someone else would.
