I live in a country where house help is easily obtainable. That's why washing dishes, washing and ironing clothes, cleaning the house and other domestic chores are easily delegated. In your situation, do you prefer to have your own house help or would you rather do it by yourself?

If I could afford to have house help, I would do so. I'm not the most domestically inclined person, and I pretty much hate doing those types of chores. However, it's kind of expensive to do so where I live, and I'm pretty short on money as it is because of medical costs.

having a house help specially if you have a medical condition is somewhat more of a necessity. i do hope that you can get some help somehow.

Here in our country most of the family have their house maid coz of the reason that both parents are working and no one will take care of their children thats why they prefer to have someone as their maid but in my case i prefer to do the household chores by myself. Not all maids are in good standing and in good manners and behaviour.I just talked to my cousin asking for my help to take care of her 2 sons because she just reported to the police about the incident that her maid done. Her maid is a clepto maniac. She tends to get things thats not belongs to her.Like cellphone, money and other things. One more thing about a week ago i watched from the television news that theres some case of mistreatment of the baby.ABout a 7month old baby was slapped by her nanny coz the baby keeps on crying and the nanny is watching television. So to keep the baby quiet she slapped the baby and the nanny keeps on shaking the baby to make her stop from crying. This was caught by parents because they installed some spy camera inside teir house that the nanny didnt know.

a thorough background check is essential in getting a house help. you'll never know what they are capable of doing specially with you being out most of the time.

yeah..and make sure you knew them or somebody from your household knew them. It's pretty hard to entrust your whole house and what more your kids to perfect stangers.

I used to live in a country where domestic help was easily available. I came to the US recently and since then have had to do all the work on my own. In a way I think its good since we don't need to depend on anybody to get things done but sometimes it can be very tiring. Even though its just my hubby and I, I am totally exhausted at times. I know when I go back to my country I will have domestic help.

In the past I have had my house cleaned, but members of my family were in the house cleaning business and I used them. But we moved into our new house my husband and I do all the cleaning. We usually clean the house every Sunday. We split up the chores and it goes really fast. We are also pretty neat during the week so it isn't that much to clean on the weekends.

Teamwork in cleaning. That's the key. Plus you have technical knowledge in house cleaning which really helps you a lot. Good for you.

I have tried the house help and never was happy with the way they did the work. Maybe to picky I don't know but things were not done the way I thought they should be. Don't know if I would ever try it again just like things done right and get what I pay for.

yeah. sometimes you have to do it by yourself. it takes patience to train house helps on the routine based on your expectations.

If I had a job myself and I could afford it, hiring a househelper would be ideal, but when I'm at home most of the time, then I prefer to clean the house and everything in it myself.

Because we both are working and have a kid to attend to we are force to get a helper to watch over my kid and also to look after our house. I guess it is so advantageous if you don't have a househelper since its an added expense for us. But we have to get one to watch over our kid while we are not around the house. During weekends we have to rest though to be able to have the strength working the next week around so its better and convenient for us to get one.

I would definitely prefer a house help. In fact, we have one at home. I'm not good in maintaining a clean home and I'm not good in doing any of the household chores that's why we really need a house help to keep our place clean and in order.

I would definitely want a househelp or sort of coz I'm too tired to do household chores and during week ends I have so much to do that I can't even have time to dust off..:( One thing i'm sure though, I'll never get a nanny to take care of my (would be) kids, I'll ask help from relatives but will not pay some stranger to take care of them. But If I'm a stay at home wife i will not need a househelp anymore.I can do all the cleaning and stuff..with my husband's help of course.

I like to do things myself, I have to do them a certain way and am not happy if they are not done right. I don't even like it when my hubby tried to help around the house because he doesn't do it "right" in my way...I know it sounds mean, I just like things done a certain way and would rather do them myself =)

dancing maids - dancing chambermaids in the movie "main in manhattan"
As much as possible I don't like to have a live-in house help, I just want them to come in the morning perform their duties and leave the house when I get home. Three times a week will be ok for me as It's not practical to spend additional money on something that I can do myself.

Oh I live in a country like yours too and we import maids from poorer countries. Although I feel bad for them, I must say that I love the help with the chores. Hehehe I love them!

Well when I was living in Samoa I preferred to have house help. Both of us were working full-time and I needed someone to take care of my son and do all our household chores. We would often work quite late most nights of the week. Now that I am a stay at home mom, living in USA, I do everything myself and prefer it that way. At times when I am sick, I wish I did have house help though!!

I would rather do it my self. In the first place I can not afford to have a maid or the like. perhaps. If I'll marry then I'll ask my partner that we get a maid so that someone can take care of the house chores while I take care of our kids. For the meantime living by myself is not a hindrance to me in fact I'm trying to learn how to cook and I'm enjoying doing a little cleaning around my small apartment..But washing?I drop my dirty clothes at the laundry shop I am lazy of washing my them.

I would so love to have house help. I often feel overwhelmed by everything that needs to be done! I saw a t-shirt once that fit my personality. It said "The only thing domesticated about me is that I live in a house." I am simply not interested in housedeeping. I would rather read, paint, post on myLot, etc. I gless anyone who likes to keep house. It is not an easy job.!

I prefer to have people around me to help with things especially inside the house.. I am not really a lazy person but I prefer not to do the "dirty work" especially if we are talking about household chores.. I dont mind doing the cooking myself.. but the rest, no thanks.. I prefer to help someone by employing her to do these things for me..
