I remember these lamps back in the 70's and I see them being sold alot lately, do you have a lava lamp? They say the lava lamp is very hypnotic and relaxing, do you agree?

Yes I do....did you know that you can make your own lava lamps by using an old plastic pop bottle, you fill it a little over half way with water and up to about 3 inches from the top with olive oil.....you than add 10 drops of food coloring and then place a lit candle behind it.....the oil will start floating around due to the heat from the candle.....you can use warm water if you want to start it up faster.....

i don't have a lava lamp.i was born in the sixtie and seventies was my life then.seeing the lamp takes me back in time but not a thing that i would want to have. i would love to see a lava wall!maybe, if i have my own house and make money in the net, i would ask my architect friend to do for me.ain't it cool! but it's gonna take a lot of electricity and heat energy.ah, maybe not a practical thing to have, on second thoughts.lol!

Hahahaha a lava wall, I like that! Tell you what, if you hit the lottery you can do all four walls and have a lava living room. lol

I used to have one until I sold it last year. I loved it but my youngest boy kept messing with it and I was afraid he would break it. I found them soothing and I'll miss having the funky color and feel about it.

They have been around a good while. My 15 year old niece has one and when she showed it to me she thought it was something so new and cool. She didn't believe we had it first - back in the olden days like they say. LOL

I had a lava lamp many years ago, but misplaced it during one of my many moves. Two years ago, I purchased one for my daughter and she loves the pretty colors and thinks its relaxing. Its cool to see certain fads come back.

I don't think they are very relaxing, my daughter had a SpongeBob one a few months back. EW used it as her night light.

Back in the day, many people that had them were also doing a lot of partying. Thanks for responding.

Really? THey made a comeback in the 90s and then seemed to go back out for awhile... I've always wanted one; they do seem very relaxing to me, even though an author whose books I used to like happened to write that the little lava-like thingies look like pig embryos. :P
