Whether you have horizonal or vertical window blinds, which do you prefer metal or plastic. Many people have the plastic mini blinds but the metal ones appear to be making a big come back. Which is your favorite?

melted blinds - the heat of the sun between the window and the plastic melted our venetian blinds!
omgosh it's so funny that you would bring up this topic because what has happend to our plastic blinds in our bedroom is something that I have never seen before in my life! We put the plastic on our windows the kind that you shrink with a blowdryer and i guess from the heat of the sun and the plastic the blinds melted! Can you believe it? I attached a photo of it. LOL! So I would have to say I think I prefer the metal ones after this.

LOL. In the adirondack mountains upstate NY...so no I wouldnt say close to the sun but that window is facing east so it does get all the morning sun and high noon. I say maybe it could of started a fire? you never know kinda like a magnifying effect? My BF said no it wouldn't. And it's gonna stay that way til its warm enough to remove the plastic...if the blinds don't just disenegrate by then LMAO!

I have blinds on all my windows but they are neither metal or plastic.....I use to use the metal ones until they had that big lead poisoning scare from them and the plastic ones break to easy.....mine are wood and also my favorite....they don't break if you 'peek' through them and they are so easy to wipe clean

I hate mini-blinds. They came with the house when we bought it but hubby knows that when they get too dirty where dusting don't work, they are history. I want the 2" wide faux wood blinds that you find at any home improvement center. More expensive but a heck of alot easier to keep clean.

I don't have blinds, I have shades and curtains. But I love the wood blinds, they are expensive so I would only purchase them if I had my own home. I would not buy them for an apartment because they probably would not fit in another place. I have had plastic blinds and they are nice and cheap and easier to take care of then the metal ones. Take care...

Plastic. They're cheaper, easier to maintain and the more innovative brands also come up with really stylish designs. The metal one's, i feel are so hard to maintain because they could bend and lose their original form. Although of course both have advantages and disadvantages. One disadvantage for the plastic ones is when they are not maintained properly, you can never get them backtotheir original color. The colors becomes dull and since its plastic, no amount of bleaching cleaning would make them look brand new again. But then you got them cheap, right?

We use plastic, because, well, actually there's several reason. They're cheaper, QUIETER, (ahem, sorry, i've got a four year old that already makes enough noise for a small country) Easier to clean, don't have to worry about rust, and....are they recyclable? i don't know if i can list that without actually knowing. And the metal are probably recyclable too..hm.. All in all, plastic. How bout you? Metal or plastic?

if i had a personal choice, i would choose the wooden horizontal blinds if it fit the house decore but in my flat ive just had new metal ones installed and they are thinner than the ones in my old flat...bit flimsy but i definately prefer the metal ones...i guess because im used to them.....though i dont know that ive seen plastic ones here (not that i go out looking for horizontals).

I have a mixture of metal and plastic in my home. In two rooms where black blinds were what was needed in terms of decorating, I ordered black metal ones. In the one room where white was okay, I have a plastic one! The rest of my windows do not have blinds at all. All my blinds are horizontal blinds.
