I half to go to a Funeral tommorow one of my church members died. it's kind of scary she was a year older that me. I am 52. she had surgery to lose some weight. But, had complications. Some people can have those surgerys and are fine, some just can handle it. It is a name for this surgery can anyone tell me? she had even lose alitle wieght before she went in to have surgery, she really wanted to lose this weight, and she died in the process how sad. would you have this kind of Surgery? I would never do this. I would fine other ways to lose weight.

there's the lap band system, where they put a plastic band around the top of your stomach, and the stapling of the stomach, and then there's the stomach bipass which is probably the most dangerous of the weightloss surgeries. i do not know if i would have this surgery or not, a good many factors would go into it. some medical conditions preclude you requiring it. extreme high blood pressure and diabetes are just two. www.webmd.com can give you more info on it.

You are smart. the other day I just told someone at mylot to go to that site WebMD.com Yes they said she had high blood pressure and other problems. I think that's what happen with her. she was already sickly, I think a person has to be in the best of shape before having those kinds of surgery. thank you for your input.

everyone should know about, about WebMD. why don't you make a discussion out of it. that would save some of us from going to the doctor if it's minor. don't you agree? +

I think the name of the surgery is called "gastro" something. I really would like to have surgery to lose weight too. I'm not obese or anything but I have never been able to keep my weight off after I had my daughter. I tend to feed my nerves alot. I stay very depressed in my life and struggle just to get through each day. It is not a good feeling either when you cannot wear the clothes that you wore 2-3 years ago. If I ever had the opportunity to lose weight through surgery, I would do it, no matter what the consequence of it. I just cannot see living the rest of my life in misery as it is now anyway.

No matter how much weight I had to do I would do it naturally no matter what. Surgery scares me as it is, even when I absolutely, necessarily need it I try to find some other manner in healing. But if I can't find an alternate method I swallow my fears and go ahead and have the surgery. The only medical procedures that I know that cause people to lose weight almost rapidly is a tummy tuck, liposuction, and the procedure that is done that staples the stomach. I can't imagine myself ever getting one of those procedures done. I am sorry to hear of the passing of someone you knew. Though she is in a better place now. *hugs*
