Money in the world

I feel that nowadays, everything is money minded. Money before respect or concern. Money before honesty. Seems to me that is all the entire world is about now. Making lots of money no matter what. People have always been concerned with this, but not to the extent as it is today. What are your opinions?

Money has always made the world go around. But the past 10 years, it is outrageous what is going on because of the need and greed of it. It's scary.

It is evil, as the saying goes. All the biggest crimes are mostly money related.

Money is the only thing that anyone or anybody thinks about these days, especially our government, president, athletes, movies, celebrities and our jobs. You are definitely very right about this subject. It should not be this way. People should have respect for each other, respect our wishes, be concerned about our health, well being, happiness, love and other more important things. Health insurance companies do not care about people as they only are concerned about the money they bring in instead of providing us with the medications and medical help that we need to take care of ourselves. There are other examples of money being an issue.

This is not an either or consideration for me. Sure, I want to have money to do whatever I want. But I still have respect for myself and others. I won't cheat or steal to get it. I won't take advantage of others. If I can earn it, I will. But it won't be at the expense of my self-worth or happiness or health. In one regard, I would like to make enough money to help others.

Bless your heart. Too bad there aren't enough people that think like you. The large corporations, the government, are all concerned only about the $.

I remember when I was a child People would say "The bible says money is the root of all evil". Well the bible does not say that, it says "The love of money is the root of all eveil". I think people have a love for money and this lust for money has made them selfish. Selfishness has lead them to the concern that you have mentioned, dishonesty. Once the lust for money takes over your life then the rest of the sins seeep in slowly. Have you noticed that kids today want what their parents have. The parents worked their whole life to get what they have today but the kids want it "now" The "Want it now " generation is dependant on money. they think that money will make them happy and when it does not make them happy, they want more money. Seems we can never get enough of the things that do not make us happy.

I agree, it seems money is what seems to be more important than anything else. Making money, making more money, everything revolves around money, the best paying job regardless of a person's happiness, the brand names when it comes to styles for school kids, the most expensive sneaker, I've heard stories in the news where kids killed another teen to steal his sneakers. I hope things start turning around soon and people concern themselves with more important things in life. Thanks for a thought provoking question. I hope your get lots of responses.

I believe that there is no such thing as "enough" money, so we try to fill all the empty places in our life with money, and it never works. I also think, for me, the obsession about money started with some big mistakes I made, and I now have a big hole called "debt" to dig out of. There will also always be people who are more altruistic and are not so obsessed. I am thankful for that.

I understand. But, money is so important to large companies, that they will not be honest with their customers. Have you noticed that? And kids killing for shoes?

I agree, the whole human race appears to be centred on money making. If they cant make it legitimately, they will make it illegally by various scams and such. I just think it is very sad, remember there are no pockets in a shroud blessed be

You're right that money causes a lot of problems. It's true when they say that "money is the root of all evil". We have become a very greedy society, that's for sure. We all want every amenity and luxury that we can think of, and we want it NOW! So many are so deeply in debt that they will never be able to enjoy their retirement, which is a really sad thing. They say that the majority of couples that divorce due to "irreconcilable differences" and fighting are arguing about money. I believe in living within my means, and I tend not to be very materialistic. I was taught to be responsible with credit and to save for something that I wanted rather than to go out and charge it on an impulse. Being unemployed for so long, I have also learned many new tricks for saving money. I think that it's OK to be concerned about money and to be careful, but I cannot understand how so many are absolutely obsessed with earning more and more money and buying more and more "stuff". In the end, are they any happier than the next person?

In the end, we go out of this world the way we came in. Broke. Money cannot buy happiness. It is sad that murders and robberies are rooted from money greed.

You are right. People are basically greedy and the promise of money usually is very attractive to them. The more they have, the more they want. Something I have noticed, along with this desire for money, is that most people want to make money without doing any work for it. For example, some of the answers submitted on myLot, as well as many of the discussions, are ridiculous. They haven't been thought out at all and it is obvious that they are just sticking any old thing up to earn another 2 or 3 cents. Some people never even come back to read the answers to the questions they have submitted.

This is true. My numbers are so high, and I get so many to respond too, it is impossible at this point. But, I keep trying to catch up. I get over 1,000 or more a day I have to do. But, I read everyone and rate everyone. Thank you for your feedback dear.

Money is not almighty but without money everything seems incompletence. From an individual, organisation and even a nation in this world all needs money to keep alive and growing. Just compare USA and the poor country of Africa, you will know the importance or power of money concerned.

People want to have more money in order to get security , as we are living in a fast growing world, everything is changing quickly and it seems that the only thing which can protect us is money. Pursuing money throughout the life is no problem, but it should not be done in the ways which will cause damage to other people.

The technology makes everyone enlightened from simple life to complex one, money is needed to survive. If we are in century back, we probably be contented with simple living. Since we are in techno world right now we demand more and not easily be contended with what we have. I guess it's just time that make us like this.

Money makes the world go 'round. We've bought into that media-hyped crap that we all must be consumers. Money buys our politicians. You can't get a good degree without it. Otherwise you have to slave your butt off in some bonebreaking job to pay off a mortgage. The greedier the haves get, the greedier the have-nots have to get. That's just the way it goes.

I think this is true but if you really think about it this has been the case since money or trinkets were first used. This has always been a problem. THere have always been people that wanted a bigger piece of the pie and would sell their soul to the devil to get it.

I agree with that one. But I NEED money and well thats my thoughts. I dont have a job, its a heck of a problem getting one. I wish I had one though. I know most things in life well I'd say ALL things are NOT free. You ever notice nothing is free anymore? It sucks but its true! Money is everything. I wish we lived without money. They could they used to I think. I wish they did again. I wish the world wasnt run by money but it is.

You must be in a negative mood to come up with this question. Nothing right or wrong there.. I understand and I am inflicted with many of these times as well. :P Money... it's all about money. Money makes the mare go round, no? Yes and no. Yes because mortals are mortals, are mortals. They are condemned to a pitiful existence on this earth before they finally expire. So they need to survive and since barter trade isn't that popular nowadays, they have no choice but to earn money. No because there is still a good number of people around who value respect, honesty and showing concern for others. To see this, try hard to see beyond the faults of people and look at their good instead. Use a magnifying glass if you need... see if this works. :P

Well people need money to live. You use it to buy all your weekly supplies and pay your bills. The more money you have the more that you can have.
