We received it at the beginning of the week. He is doing really well with it. Just thought I would update you all. I can't wait until it is programmed with just his information so that he relates to all of it. I really think it is going to be a good thing for him!!

This will make such a huge difference in his life. I am glad it has happened. So do I understand that it came preprogrammed, and not all of it is relevant?

I am so happy to hear that your son received his talking device and that he is doing very well with it. I am sure it probably takes some time for someone to get used to the device but he seems to be doing great and hope things continue to go well for him and for you and your family. I definitely think it will be a good thing for him and am sure he will like it very much and adjust well.

I am so glad to hear that. I bet you did a "happy dance" when it arrived. How long should it take you to program it with his information?

I still have to learn how to do some of the programming. The speech therapist and I are getting together tomorrow and hopefully we can figure some of the more complicated stuff out. I have already took some of the things off that doesn't pertain to him but I am just a little leary of tackling the programming by myself. I don't want to mess anything up. We should be able to get some of it done tommorrow and get it generally ready for him.

Hi. Please let me know how your son does with the new talking device. We tried one with our son at school, but he refused to use it. There is a link to a girl on the Yahoo group Autism-Cures who does not talk or look people in the eye but who has a typing device that talks. She can type so fast that she can talk normally with the device. Blessings, Albert

That's fantastic. It always brings tears to me eyes, the idea of a child who has been previously unable to communicate being given the ability to actually say 'I love you'. I have been studying to be a speech therapist, and also have two special needs children and lots of freinds with special needs children. I love that we can help our kids tell us what their needs and wants and feelings are.

That is wonderful news both for your son and for the whole family. You will be able to communicate with him on a different level. I'm sure he will have less frustration when he gets to work it all out also. Good luck to all of you.
