My son is three and already loves to cook He loves working with me in the kitchen and is a great helper. As much as I love it I am worried he will want to be a chef because that is what I do whaen he could be allot of other things. I know he is only three but I don't want him not to explore options in life. Any Ideas?

I bet he is soooooo cute! Your son will have many opportunities to see how other people make a living. I am sure he will consider other options, but don't be too disappointed if he wants to be a chef! It used to be custom that a son learned his trade from his dad. YOur sons proclivities are gentically woven in and come from you! It would only be natural for him to express many of these traits. Many dads wish for a son to follow in their footsteps. YOu are very lucky that your little guy wants to help and learn with you. I bet you are very proud of him!

drill it in to him that you really want him to be a chef and to be so much better than you so he can carry on the family tradition...... reverse phycology! he'll hate the idea of being a chef if you really push him. just an idea.

Today is my first day on here so bare with me. I to am a Chef and a Father. All my girls helped me in the kitchen and I too worried they would either become a chef or a Nurse like their mother. They have all taken on their own identies once they become teenagers. Don't get me wrong they still help out in the kitchen from time to time. But my oldest is in her third year of college taking Criminal Justice studies. The Middle one will be getting into the Animal end of things and the youngest is 16 so she still has time to decide. Now My Granddaughter is my little helper and she says she will grow up and be a chef like her papa and a Mech. like her day...lol Hope this helps ChefMichael.....
