I have heard that drinking gatorade keeps your body hydrated along with helping to boost your energy. I have drank gatorade after running or exercising and it never did help me. I have seen alot of people that paly sports on television drinking gatorade to replinish their bodies. I guess it works for some people but not for all because it never did do a thing for me when I drank it and exercised or worked out. Maybe I didn't drink enough of it for the activity I was doing at the time????

well, i think because gatorade is a isotonic drink. besides, i think it may have some special substances to bust the production of energy *these may be carbohidrates/sweets*

Gatorade contains more electrolytes than ordinary water which is needed by your body when exercising. It also contains sodium to retain liquid inside your body. It's like drinking one glass of gatorade which is likely equivalent to 2 glasses of water without the bloated feeling and peeing. It quenches body thirst and keeps the body hydrated even if you're active.

i believe that gatorade, being an energy and sports drink, is able to replenish our body with electrolytes that are lost when we exercise.

The only advantage of gatorade over water is that it contains more carbohydrates and electrolytes to help maintain energy levels during exercise. As far as hydration, water is just as effective. Drinking Gatorade when you aren't exercising is not as healthy as drinking water because of all the sugar.

I think that gatorade and powerade help to keep you hydrated and keep your electrolytes in balance. I usually just drink water when I am working out, and cannot work out without it. I usually try to eat something high in protein before I work out, to keep my energy up.

According to my chemistry professor, gatorade is not really a healthy drink. It's just ordinary water mixed with some chemicals especially food coloring. Try drinking mineral water instead.
