Theatre is really reflecting life if a good play is there and a good director has a good team of performers and beckstage promoters! I remember, when I was young and studying in college; theatre was one of the best form to express the things we were passing through! I was also writing one act plays and our young theatre person's team was ready to act and perform after rehearsals! Theatre was a solution and was helping us to dilute our all odds and providing us creative urge of the life! And so survival never become a problem or frustation never come nearer: Yes it is true that Indian concept of theatre has a calm and cool elements regarding performing art with breathing technique, movement instructions and so on! Indirectly i our thetre work was opening some kind of Yogic process inside! That was really fascinating for me and till the date it is improving inside! Since last 22 years i have not done theatre but i hope to do it again as a healing tool and life promoter activity! Theatre is theatre and there is no alternative of that!

i will start with the last sentence of your post: "Theatre is theatre and there is no alternative of that!" i read this post a few times and there again you were saying what i felt about theater and art. we do come from different parts of the world but we do have a basic true feeling about the theater. i can tell you that, and i know it would seem a bit dramatic, theater has saved my life. i was grown on theather from the age of 5 studied it in high school and did a degree in it. i did work in it afterwards and in my life i discovered that as a very closed person theater did give me a door to life and communicating. i did stop doing theater for the last few years because i discovered that that theater is my life but when i go home the reality is very hard to me. it is complicated but i do thing that it has like all arts a healing force. and i do hope that i will be able to go back to it without losing touching the reality on the other side.
