Proverbs can Teach us Wisdom for Life. Which one is Your Favorite??

Please tell me about your favorite proverb and how you have learnt from it. In Sweden we say: Better one bird in your hand than ten in the forest. I think the thought here is that we should be greatful with what we already have. We often forget that.

I've learnt a few proverbs while in school,here goes: Make hay while the sun shines A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush A rolling stone gathers no moss All that glitters is not gold. Strike the iron while it is hot. Don't let the sun go down on your wrath. Cut the coat according to the cloth (Is that right? lol) Well that's all I can remember now..

I can think of only this proverb which i learnt in school off hand.'It is honourable to fail than to cheat', it means it is better to fail in your exams than to cheat because more than a failure a cheater loses his self respect and esteem.

sometimes you get what you want but its not what you need. becareful what you wish for you might get it. grass maybe greener on the otherside but the taste may be bitter.
