Personally, I'd go for AVG because they give a free version of this, also it runs on less memory. Hookup a good anti-spyware program and you should be fine

norton's got a big footprint, and runs a lot of other crap besides the antivirus. the other programs can cause hiccups if they don't like something on your machine. at least that was the case with mine and it was legit. i do have windows defender which keeps the malware bs off the machine too.

I prefer AVG, because it is more competible with Windows since Norton alwais cause some nonsense problems, hehehe, just my own opinion Frankly, the best thing to protect your computer from virus is from yourself, just keep yourself away from those sites which may carry virus

one reason why norton affects loading time of windows or even some applications is bcoz it is carefully checking the files your accessing to make sure it is safe from virus.

i prefer AVG over Norton because AVG does not give a heavy load to the memoryso it prevents messing up on your pc unlike Norton that sometimes it hangs the system or gives useless error messages. AVG can even run good in an old system without giving much hard time.

AVG is junk! Here are the latest test results from http://www.virus.gr/english/fullxml/defa... showing the percentage of infections each of the anti-virus softwares were able to detect in the test: 1. Kaspersky version 6.0.0.303 - 99.62% 2. Active Virus Shield by AOL version 6.0.0.299 - 99.62% 3. F-Secure 2006 version 6.12.90 - 96.86% 4. BitDefender Professional version 9 - 96.63% 5. CyberScrub version 1.0 - 95.98% 6. eScan version 8.0.671.1 - 95.82% 7. BitDefender freeware version 8.0.202 - 95.57% 8. BullGuard version 6.1 - 95.57% 9. AntiVir Premium version 7.01.01.02 - 95.45% 10. Nod32 version 2.51.30 - 95.14% 11. AntiVir Classic version 7.01.01.02 - 94.26% 12. ViruScape 2006 version 1.02.0935.0137 - 93.87% 13. McAfee version 10.0.27 - 93.03% 14. McAfee Enterprise version 8.0.0 - 91.76% 15. F-Prot version 6.0.4.3 beta - 87.88% 16. Avast Professional version 4.7.871 - 87.46% 17. Avast freeware version 4.7.871 - 87.46% 18. Dr. Web version 4.33.2 - 86.03% 19. Norman version 5.90.23 - 85.65% 20. F-Prot version 3.16f - 85.14% 21. ArcaVir 2006 - 83.44% 22. Norton Professional 2006 - 83.18% 23. AVG Professional version 7.1.405 - 82.82% 24. AVG freeware version 7.1.405 - 82.82% 25. Panda 2007 version 2.00.01 - 82.23% 26. Virus Chaser version 5.0a - 81.47% 27. PC-Cillin 2006 version 14.10.1051 - 80.90% 28. VBA32 version 3.11.0 - 79.12% 29. ViRobot Expert version 4.0 - 76.22% Personally, I use the AOL AntiVirusShield. Don't let the name AOL scare you. AntiVirusShield is made by Kaspersky which is one of top-rated anti-virus vendors in the world. In recent tests, the most popular free anti-virus, AVG, was only able to detect about 82% of a very large sample of viruses. On the other hand, AntiVirusShield was able to detect better than 99% in the same test. http://www.virus.gr/english/fullxml/defa... AOL AntiVirusShield has excellent virus detection rates and is extremely light on using your computer resources. Free to anyone, AOL member or not.

AVG hands down. i have used both norton and mcafee vefore and they're just "resource hogs" i mean they can pretty slow up your system but AVG is different. it can get the job done without hampering your systems perfornance. thats what i like most about it. it gets the job done with less resources withour compromise

I use AVG because it's free, it doesn't mess up my computer as much as Norton did, and it does a fairly good job.

I use AVG for real time protection, because it is small and allows this old pc to run halfway decent. If I think there is a problem, I then run the full featured and highly demanding anti-virus and anti-spyware program supplied by my ISP. As it takes several hours for this to run, I run it while sleeping. I also use SpyBot, and AdAware SE. My wife uses Norton's on her new pc, because it is faster than the Anti-virus from the ISP. So far she likes it.

I prefer to use Norton. There are some bad experience with AVG. Depending on how critical the information on our PC is, we will decide accordingly which one to use. For business, it is advisable to use paid products. It seems to me that the quality of paid software are better.

i've used both of these anti-viruses. but now i prefer NOD32. i think its a very good anti-virus. its particularly good for laptop users because its not heavy at all. and i've many a times seen it detecting viruses when a pen-drive from some other computer is inserted into mine.

antivirus programs have different strengths and weaknesses. the best thing to do is try to research on reviews on those antivirus programs and ask people you know what they prefer. personally i use norton antivirus and it has served me well for the past 4 years.

I prefer AVG to norton, the most important reason is that AVG is free and Norton is paid and norton makes your system very slow and heavy while AVG is lighter and faster. Nowadays i am using avast antivirus than avg.

Well, i use MACAFEE ANTIVIRUS security for my pc. n i am very satisfied with it before i am using NORTON ANTIVIRUS but recently i am using MACAFEE;although norton has best secutity it slows the pc the bit n i think and macafee is better than norton that it not lets pc slows down. so if want to have best security without compramising to the speed the norton is best OR go for macafee nothing else .....(as i think).

give me avast from www.avast.com cuz it's free and has a small 'footprint'. it doesn't block scripts, the freebee version anyway, but your browser, if it's firefox comes with a freebee download plugin that does. it's never crashed my machine as norton and it's ilk tend to do.

i go for norton. i've been using it for a couple o years now. and i'm satisfied how it handles security protection against viruses. i've tried avg & mcafee before but i'm not satisfied... there are some viruses that they dont detect but norton get rid of it easily out of my system. it is true norton affects the loading time of my pc but i think i prepare waiting than to be surprise to know that my pc is crushing down bcoz it is infected with viruses. (thats my own opinion) c",)
