Lately I've found that I want to lose a few pounds. I currently weigh 140lbs and I'm about 5 foot 9 inches tall. Everyone I know tells me that I don't need to lose any weight, that it's unhealthy for someone my height to lose more weight since I weigh in at what I do. I know that I should most likely listen to them, they're probably right, I know that I shouldn't be concerned with my weight right now. However, I don't feel the same as everyone else, my body should look how I imagine it... I see my flaws, and I want to change those. I see the small gut that I have, I see the bits of flab I have on my arms and legs... I wanna lose that. Anyone know what I mean, like you know your fine but you wanna lose what extra fat you have... even though everyone else says you shouldn't?

Well, the best thing to do is to exercise. By exercising, you are being more healthier since you're ... well working out! Plus, exercise to get more "lean" don't exercise to lose weight. When people tell you that you shouldn't lose anymore weight, you probably shouldn't. But exercising does not necessarily mean losing weight. Eat the same amount you have been eating but add a little exercise once in a while. Like...maybe an hour a day for about three to four days a week and work out your arms and your abs. So do pushups or situps and work with weights and of course run, and I think it'll help with the extra fat and flab without losing too much weight.

I was told that eating like 5 small meals a day is better than 3 big meals... If thats right then I need to eat a bit more? I only have a slimfast shake in the morning sometimes (if anything at all), a cup of soup for lunch, and most the time, nothing for dinner... and I have maybe a soup when I get home in the afternoon.... bad or good? haha

I'm 5 foot 7, 135 lbs. Ever time I say I need to lose weight people say the same to me. But I'm starting to get that same gut. And I don't want it to grow. I guess diet and exercise is the way to go but I have yet to take that route. I keep hoping one day I'll wake up an I'll be back to the 6 pack I had.

Everthing baggl and cream cheese. I was talking more of trying to give up ice cream and chocolate. :-) Anyhow I've heard situps and crunches help the tummy area slim down. Might try that before going to a gym.

I'm 5"9' too and I have been told by a personal instructor at a gym (that I have just joined) that my ideal weight for my height is from 155 - 170 pounds. Any lower than 155 can be dangerous (so they say). I think you don't need to lose any more weight but maybe tone up in the areas where you see extra fat and turn that into muscle. Light - medium weights, strenthening/toning exercise classes and so on. I wish I was your weight right now LOL I have a long way to go!

You also probably just need to tone up a little, I'm not a gym person, partly because I weigh over 300lbs and am 5'6. I went to college and gained alot of weight. I have lost weight by doing an at home program and watching what I eat. Check out some fitness DVDs and find one you like, they have so many! I found a great way to not have to buy them either, I use netflix. I can keep them as long as I want, then send it back and get a new one. I love it! I also belong to a forum where I talk about my weight loss and it's helped me stay on track. There not a weight loss forum but they have a section for it and it's helps, they are really supportive.

You need to eat more, and alot more in the morning as you burn more food off during the day, also by not eating dinner you are actually causing your body to go into starvation mode and store everything as fat. No your not starving, but your body thinks you are. Eat at least 3 meals a day and 2 healthy snacks. If you don't want to join a gym, buy free weights and do sit ups. Walk more too, you want to build muscle which will burn off the fat you have. Again don't try to lose weight, just tone up.

I'm not sure I get what your saying, or you didn't understand me.. Not eating, does not help you to lose weight, in fact it can cause you to gain weight because your body stores more fat.

I know what you mean! The extra fat on the arms and legs...I definitely want to see those gone!!! Specially now that I just gave birth! It's not that I want to get skinny, nor super muscular with all that rock hard abs just even toned and without those extra fat. Can these be done? I mean I don't have time now to go to the gym, my sister gave me a pilates dvd, though I haven't tried it yet, they say it's one way of losing fat and getting toned. They also say yoga is effective as well. I wonder if there is a "wonder" cream that could just get rid of unwanted fat! hehehe! I could definitely use that! Goodluck to us!

You don't want to lose weight. Instead, you want to become healthy. There is an ideal weight for yourself and make that your goal. But if you have to, use exercise and healthier eating to get there. Forget the dieting and pill popping. You can create any kind of healthy body for yourself that you want. Don't pay attention to others if you want to make some changes. See yourself as perfect now, and be happy with how you are now. Then it will be easier to make changes to have the radiant body you desire. To keep the fat off, you will need exercise and heathy eating. Create a plan of action and go for it, knowing you can get to your goal.

I think what you need to do is sign up at a gym and have a fitness trainer tell you what you need to do with your problem areas. It is your body so you're the one who knows alot about it. I am the same way with my face. One blackhead or whitehead and I worry.

i also am desperate to lose weight. i am 5' 1" and i weigh 120. i used to weign 105, so it is quite a bit of weight gain for me. Unfortunately, with all the physical limitations from my accident, i can't work out like i used to. i am going to physical therapy now and hopefully that will help. It is too soon to tell.

It sounds to be like you don't need to lose weight, you just need to tone up a bit. Try working out. That way you will get rid of the "flaws" you have. Remember though, muscle weighs more, so while you will be toning up, your weight will most likely go up.

I would suggest joining a gym and maybe even getting some personal training sessions. A trainer can help you get going with a workout schedule and a diet plan to keep you on track. Before I had kids, I started getting a gut and that was what I did to tone it up, even though I was at the 130 lbs mark and 5'7. I wouldn't recommend losing any weight though, it looks like your at or below normal weight for your height.

By the sounds of it you don't really need to diet, but going to the gym and toning up might help you achieve the body you want. Work on exercises that target your problem areas. Just keep eating healthy and I am sure you shouldn't have a problem getting to where you want to be.

I'm the same height and weight as you. I'm lucky to have not only a home gym, but a husband that was really into natural bodybuilding several years ago. Lately he wants me to wear outfits that show off my body, but I told him only if I lose the weight first. He instead told me what princesskaos15 said, to tone up instead. So since November of '06 I've dedicated myself to working out. And yes, you gain weight (muscle), before you lose the fat. I was 135 before I worked out and gained 5 pounds so far, but hey, no more cottage cheese thighs! And my arms and chest are more defined. Unfortunately I currently have a cold, so hubby says no working out until I'm better as it can actually make me feel worse. Good luck!

You are underweight but obviously have issues with your body image. next time you look at yourself in the mirror say that you accept your body, look at the bits you have problems with , for example your stomach and say 'i accept my stomach, i like my body', if you do this everyday you will stop hearing the critical voice in your head. it is the lack of love for yourself that makes you feel this way, learn to love yourself and you will have a much happier life in lots of ways. Maybe you have had problems in your past that you may need a bit of help with as these body issues are usually linked to a need to control our lives as we feel we have not had control over issues in our lives.

Pl dont take it lightly! Take a lukewarm tumbler of water mixed with a spoon of honey and few drops of lemon first thing in the morning. You'll bless me! The very first day you'd feel inviograted fresh and light the rest of the day besides shedding weight safely and soundly! Take care! Dont forget me!

At 5ft 9in 140lbs is fine. Maybe you don't need to lose weight maybe you just need to firm up a little. Work out firm up and you will see a change in your body for the better.
