I just remembered the look on my husband's face when he saw how many cookbooks i had brought with me from norway. His facial expression was a combination of terrified, shocked, amazed and spooked. I definitely dont have a huge collection but given that he's never owned a single one in his life then seeing my collection was just too much for him. So i just thought i'd see how many you guys have... anyone? And how many of these do you use?Personally, I have around 350 cookbooks and i've tried to make at least one thing from each book (not quite there yet though!). But of course, there are some books that are more used than others... thing is, as some of you might already know im not really big on following a recipe. Thats why i used my cookbooks mainly for inspiration and ideas. So over to you guys!

Wow! You actually have 350 cookbooks. i dont think i would have the space for that many. Infact I persoanlly own no cookbooks. i ususally get all my recipes online coz its a treasure of recipes.

Oh i absolutely agree that the online world has a whole world of recipes that are really great.. and dont get me wrong, i use the web ALOT for recipes too.. But there's something about taking that book from the shelf, sitting down comfortably and browsing the book.. after so many years having to sit in front of a computer almost 24/7 (college and then work), i like to give my eyes a rest every now and then and there's nothing more "therapeutical" than a good cookbook lol

I have 28 cookbooks and use 8 of them regularly and two are for holidays. I'm planning to reduce the number to 10 before the end of the year by transferring the recipes in the seldom used books into one book, so my cooking shelf isn't so crowded. Right now, its hard to just pull out one book, as several come out at once. My goal in January was to be more organized and this would certainly help me reach that goal.

Yeah i guess i know what you mean... Thing is i'm kinda past that.. It would be kinda hard to reduce the number of books in my case.. and after all.. i just loooooooove browsing the books and just looking at some of the photos.. and then drifting into a daydream.... (yeah i do that sometimes!!!)

WOW 350 books, that is a lot! Do you use them all? I only have one and I have yet to use it -I'm terrible when it comes to cooking but I do try. I have been learning from my husband and now I cook at least 5 days a week.

Well i try to use them all, maybe not an exact recipe but at least for inspiration. I love doing that. Or maybe even take one thing from one recipe and merging it with some other recipe from some other book.. or just from my head.. alot of fun and alot of crazy outcomes :P

Actually I have about 50 cookbooks that I use off and on...some are very old (1930's) so I don't use them much. I love the Quick Cooking Magazines and have started collecting them. LIVE IN PEACE

I have a couple of cook books, but I don't really use them. We are on a tight budget so therefore we usually eat mostly the same things every week.

Wow, and I thought I had too many cookbooks :) I have about 50.. every once in a while I see one that has something that catches my eye - or my taste buds - and I get it. I also have a few computer disks filled with recipes that I get from friends, the web and.. more books LOL HOw often do I end up using them? Not as often as I thought when I bought them. SOme of them I use more than others, like you,and I tend to take a look every once in a while to remember recipes that I haven't used in a while. Some, I haven't used at all ever since I bought them.

I´m envious of your collection! I would love to have more cookbooks, but at the moment, I just have two. One is a pasta cookbook that I never use because it has only ingedients that I can´t find here. The other is The Joy of Cooking which my mom always used. I had to buy a copy when I came to Guatemala. It is pretty battered because I read it a lot! Stained pages and all that. My son also ripped the cover off, so it is a bit naked and missing half the index, to show how well read it is. Plus, the mice ate a corner, so it is really quite worn. I will have to buy a new one soon, I think. :)

What a collection! I think I own three cookbooks, I'm afraid I find buying cookbooks a waste of my money as I can find any recipe that I need online. Still, I wouldn't mind having 350 cookbooks - I just wouldn't have a place to put them!

Right now I only have 5 or 6. I usually get my recipes on-line so I am not searching through a book trying to find what I am looking for. I use to have over 100 but I never used them so I gave them all away!! I don't know where i would put 350 + cookbooks...how do you store them??

I have ten cookbooks (given to me by my mom) but I only use two of them: The Blue Willow Inn Cookbook by Jane Stern and Michael Stern and Back to the Table by Art Smith. The recipes in these cookbooks are wonderful.
