How often do you change your cellphone? Young (and some old) people of today always want the latest model so they keep on switching. I don't see a need for the latest or more expensive model, as long as I can send and receive calls and messages efficiently. And I hate having to learn and adjust to using a different one. How about you?

I have to confess to being a bit of a technology freak and that means I like the latest things, providing I can afford them. Luckily my phone contract comes with automatic upgrades every 12 months so I can have my phone fix for free, and usually I get to keep the old one which I can then sell on or give to someone in the family. I also tend to stick with the same brand of phone as it makes it easier that learning how to use a new system every time.

No they are too expensive, I keep the one I have until something happens and I have to replace it. I think it's the younger people who want to keep up with the latest fad. I am too old for that.

I change my cell phone every two years when the contract is up. Seems by then, they need to be replaced as the numbers are rubbed off or the antena is busted.

I don't bother to change mine until the battery wears out. I am not great at learning new technology so I try to keep my old one as long as possible. Sometimes I think I should change it rather than purchase credit as a new phone would only cost me 70 euros and I would get 80 euros worth of free credit with it. Disposing of the old phones would be a problem as the recycling depot is too far away.

I seem to be agreeing with you on all your open discussions. Its so very true, I too prefer an easy going cellphone. And would never want to change mine.

I replace my cell phone only when absolutely necessary. I always wait till my contract is up so I can get a free phone with my plan. My phone is always out of date, but I don't care as long as it works!

Well I have had my cell phone for 3 yrs now. I have had the same phone since day one. I like the phone I have and I don't see the reason to go get a new one while mine still works perfectly fine. Plus a bunch of my friends are into getting all the newest models and honestly it seems my phone still gets better signal and service compared to theirs. Ya their's might be newer or more stylish, but at least i can use mine all the time with no problems or hassels. My opinion, newer might not always be better, just more costly.

Well, i am fed up of my phone but with good reasons. First of all, i did not choose it, it was free with my husband's phone. Second of all, there are only about 8 rings, and i don't really like any of them. I can only download polyphonic ringtones, that make is sound like an 80's cellphone! But i'm waiting for my contract to end, then i'll renew and they'll give me a choice of a few phones. THen i'll change it.

I keep my cell phone for as long as possible, I am comfortable using it. The thought of getting a new that I will have to learn just terrifies me. My phone is old fashioned and that way it will stay until it reaches pension, which is a long way off I hope. Have a good day!

I get a new phone every two years because that's how often my service provider will pay for one. Considering the amount of wear and tear I tend to put on a phone, I usually need one at least this often anyway!

I'd be happy with one that I didn't need reading glasses to use. As the phones get tinier and tinier, so do the pictures on them. I only see blobs of color instead of pretty pictures. How annoying!

Hi emilie,I feel the same way you do...I have had the same cell phone for the last 4 years...My husband thinks it is time to update,as far as I am concerned the one we have is fine...He wants one that takes pictures and also a flip phone...It does not matter to me ,except i will have problems trying to learn the new one and that i dread, but he is adament about changing so I guess he will, but as i said as long as I can get calls and make them its fine with my same old phone...

I generally upgrade my phone every couple of years. They get better and better every year and they're relatively inexpensive, so why not?

I have only had 2 mobile phones since 2000. I only bought a new one because the old one stopped working. like you, as long as I can phone and text, I don't care about how new the model is. One good thing is that I would never be mugged for my mobile because it's so old.

INNOSTREAM P10 Handphone - This is my currently using handphone, it is an INNOSTREAM P10 model
I only replace my cellphone with a new one when it is not functioning well. I am now using my 4th cellphone but it is my first totally new cellphone. The first 3 cellphones of mine are those used one from my sister or brother, I dont mind whether my cellphone is new/old model as long as it has the feature I require. I change my 1st to 2nd and to 3rd cellphone cos they are already not functioning and coincidentally, my bro/ sis is changing their cellphone and that's why they passed their old one to me.

I have had the same cell phone for two years. Which is the same amount of time I have had cell phone coverage. I don't feel a need to go and buy a new one just to keep up with the latest and greatest. I just think there is no reason to get another when the one I have works just fine.

Now don't laugh ... I have had mobile phones for at least 15 years .. and I am only on my third phone .. My first phone was analogue and given free by the server .. my second phone was a free offer (pay for a years rental and get it all back at the end of the year!) .. and the only reason I changed that phone was because I 'lost' it .. only to have it turn up 4 months after getting a new phone .. The phone I curently use is at least a year old .. and I will keep using it until it breaks or technology changes so much that the old phone no longer works .. I rarely if ever use it .. it's for emergencies only when I am out and about in my car ..

Forgot to add .. my current phone cost me £6.99 from Amazon in a sale .. so over roughly 15 years that's all I have ever paid for a mobile phone .. 2 were FREE and this last one at £6.99 .. pretty good value or what !!

The one i have now, one of the first colored-screen & MMS capable models from Nokia, had been with me for the past 3 years. Actually, this is my sixth cell phone since 1998. I used to change models before coz also of the trend but since 3 years ago i became more practical when it comes to buying/using cell phones. Im contented with the one i have now and don't plan to upgrade as long as it's functional. I better save the money for other important things. Anyway, just like you said... what's important is i can send and receive call and text messages.
