CPR...............how to revive your old discussions

I just discovered this phenomenon yesterday, you see, i went to the section 'my unresolved discussions' and i started resolving them, i.e. i started marking best responses on them, now these were the discussions that really didn't take off and they scored only one or two responses, and some of them, no responses at all.
So, while marking the best responses i also made fresh comments to the responses which as you know always bring it on the first page of your discussion. And this way, people, my friends, who hadn't come across these discussions before actually got to see them and also found them interesting enough to respond to them.
So with a little love and care, and i like to call it a little CPR, my old and forgotten discussions finally saw the light of day again.
Of course, there are some discussions that you can do nothing about still, and those are the ones that scored no responses because as you know, you cannot even comment on them with no posts, so those are really not up to you, but if there are some old interesting discussions of yours that you think are worth reviving then just go back to them and make a comment or two. If they are interesting enough, then people who notice them would have no choice but to respond.
So do you have any old discussions that just need a little TLC.

I do that all the time vega, 'bump' up my discussions a bit now and then so they do see the light of day..hehe! I noticed that when I marked best responses, I happened to evoke a lot more responses on those discussions. The key factor is "activity" on myLot, if it is in discussions or plain us making posts, activity plays an important role. The more activity in a discussion the better. And by activity I mean either rating it, or someone is responding to it, or you are adding a comment there. It just bumps up the discussion and more people get to see it. Make sure you have the ones you want people seeing instantly, in the top 3 on your profile page. Another friend was complaining that a user bumped up one of his older discussions which he didn't want people to see..lol

well, that's nice to hear, but like your friend i accidentally bumped up discussions that i wasn't really that keen on being popular once again, they were discussions i started in the early days when i just joined, and i was just trying to resolve them, but i do have some interesting ones that never saw the light of day, you know, the ones that have absolutely NO responses, there's not much activity i can do to revive those, i wish i could.

I still have tons I need to choose best response to, but I had already discovered when you reply to someone's response of one of your discussions that it gets popped back up to the top for awhile! So yes, I from time to time go back to my 1st discussions and see if there is anything I can do to bring it up again.

I have had to do that before with some of my discussions. Sometimes that still doesn't even help though. I always try to find discussions that don't have any answers, because I know how horrible I always feel when my discussions dont' get any responses.

Thanks for the tip i have just printed this out so i can stick it in the notebook i have started for her.
I like the idea about putting in comments so that if someone sees the discussion they have another chance to reply. My question to you thou is, do you have to mark a best response or if i just put a comment will it still move up? I know i see it move up on my discussion list, but does that also mean it makes the rounds again on new topics???
Thanks again for the tip :)

well, i think it's not marking the best response that moves it up but commenting on it, but if you mark a best response usually the person who got it comments back on it themselves and then it comes back in circulation, and i do believe it makes a round on 'recent discussions' not 'new discussions'.

thats' nice, but i don't usually set a time when i choose best response, i just choose it anytime when i find the best one, however if the discussion is not responded to for a long time, then i reluctantly have to choose one from the responses i already have.

I noticed that myself. Got a lot of posts on a couple of topics, after I selected a best response.
