who's here that English is your second language? what do you do to improve your English? i am. as a Malaysian, i rarely use English, only at university & in the office (since the culture is like that). that's why my English is quite bad. i just talk, read & write in English to improve and make myself confident. as long as others understand what i wanna say, i think it's good enough. hey, how about you guys? wanna share?

i am from malaysia too and yes english is our second language in malaysia. But as times goes by and living in globalization era i have find that english becomes important in our language but not forgetting our own mother tongue _ Malay language. Since my spouse can't speak malay, then i have to speak english to him and i speak malay when talking to my family and friends. I am teaching him to speak malay because i want him to know my mother tongue also.

wow, so you have extra point by having a non-malay spouse. at my hometown, english is not widely used, since everybody is using our own state dialect. i just can say poor boy to my little brother, he has no opportunity to practise english neither at home nor school.

I think, in almost any of the non english countries, English is used as the second language. I am from India and we have Hindi as our primary language while English as the secondary. Your written english seems to be pretty good! So, need not to worry about the written part. I have no idea about your spoken english, but I would like to say that practice makes a man perfect. The more you practice, more strong english you learn. It also gives confidence which indeed is damn essential to speak good English!

I'm from Brunei and English is my second language. How do I improve? Well, first up, i like to sing English songs. Yes, singing may actually help you correct the mistakes in pronouncing words and may help to build accents based on what you hear and how the word is said. For writing, i suggest you may read a book. Read a book which interests you. Don't read a book which is boring that won't help. When you read a book, you will definitely improve your writing skills and gain fresh ideas from reading the book. This is my recommendation to you and other people out there who's English is their second language. I normally use English at home and anywhere. Though i tend to speak my mothertongue but there will be always English around me.
