What Movie Will You Ensure Your Children See?

March 10, 2007 3:45pm CST
It doesn't matter if you don't have children, or if they're currently too young for the movie, what movie would you make sure your children saw? I would definitely vote for 'Schindler's List' and 'A Time To Kill' amongst many others, because of the message contained in them. On a personal note, I would introduce them to the movies Tim Burton has produced, as I think his work is incredible. What do you think?

every movie has some targets class and mass if we recomand to watch them the best then it has to be class , the movies having less bad effect purely entertain and educational purpose have to show them. kids like to do what elders do so its better to give them good stuff... always.... i thing some good animations will also entertain them ........ movies like cars, ice age , bugs life are good to go for, then some sentimental but not much horror and cry movies are good....cheers and let them enjoy and have better choice

I agree with showing children positive imagery whilst they are young, but I also think it is important that children are exposed to some things, so as that they become aware of the world around them. Thank you for your response :)

The Goonies, it was my favourite as a child and the monumentous phrase of "hey you guys!!!!!" from the hideous Slough is a classic still used today!

I think I will ask my child to watch E.T. It was a movie that I was so excited about when I was young. I never got tired of watching it.

I for one would make it a point to show my kids the hindi movie "Anand". It is a story of a young man in his mid thirties who knows that he has only a few months before he is going to die. But during that few months, the way he lives life with energy and enthusiasm is what I want my children to take away as a learning for their life. There is a dialog in the movie which says "Zindagi lambi nahi, badi honi chahiye." which means "Life need not be long, it just needs to be big." which sort of epitomizes the movie. The movie starred two of India's biggest superstars, Rajesh Khanna in the award winning title role of Anand and Amitabh Bachchan as the frustrated doctor who can't find a solution to cure his patient and friend. Cheers! Ram

Movies with a lesson or containing historica significance, good question. I think Schinder's list is an excellent choice. I would say that the Diary of Anne Frank would be good to see although I don't know if anyone has made a movie of it, but just seeing the play would be an enlightening experience. Aso Roots would be a very good movie as well, so that they could understand what the slaves went through in this country, even though that is technically a mini series and not a movie. The Color Purple would also be a good one to see. I am sure that more will come to mind later.
