You can go to the supermarket to buy all the ingredients like sushi rice, crab sticks, salmon fish ,cucumber, etc,,and then you boil the rice and let it cool down. After that, you can start to roll up the sushi. In australia, there is something called sushi roll. It is a rectangular box which you can put the rice at the bottom of the box, then put the ingredients you want on top of the rice, and then you put rice to make the top layer of the sushi, after that, you use the plastic box provided in the roll to press the whole thing down to make the sushi firm. You do not need to use the traditional sushi mat to roll the sushi which save you alot of time..

So sorry to have taken so long to respond. I lost a recipe that I wrote for you due to the maintenance window. You can make nice sushi at home with salmon or tuna with cucumbers, carrots, avocado, and peppers (red, yellow, or green). Just add what you like julienned to the rolls as described on this page: http://www.makemysushi.com/how_to_make_sushi.html Serve it with a little wasabi paste (found in your International Foods aisle as a powder or paste in a tube) and some Japanese soy sauce! The rice can be found near the wasabi, so can the seaweed in a big supermarket like Stop and Shop or Foodtown. To top of the feast you could make some miso soup - it comes in packets, just add water, or even add tofu (Produce section) if you like. I tried it and loved every dang piece 'cause let me tell you I ate it ALL. Mmmmmmmmm!

Most of the ingredients you need can be found at your local supermarket, like safeway. You just need rice, seaweed (or nori) wraps, and whatever vegetables and fish you want to add. The great thing about sushi is that you can put whatever you want in them, it can be a lot of fun experimenting with different ingredients and flavors with out spending all the money you would at a restaurant trying out different sushi. A nice thing too is that if you want different fishes, you only need to buy a tiny bit of each because it goes a long way with sushi. One thing good to do also is try to find a basic sushi book, it will tell you how to make your rice, how to cut the fish and vegetables, and how to roll your sushi.
