When we were born, we were given a name, however, we did not choose it; it was given to us by our parents or suggested by other members of the family. Do you know why they gave you that name? Whether we like our name or not, we cant do anything about it. However, if given a chance to change our name, what would u like it to be? Why? My name is Joyce or Joy, sounds good because it means happiness, no regrets. But I like the name Diana (like Princess Diana). What about you?

My name is Francesco. It's the Italian for "Francis". I've been lucky, I like my name even if I like Greek names very much. I have a son, I called him "Giuliano", it's the Italian for "Julian", but it comes from the Latin "Iulianus" and the Ancient Greek "IoulianĂ²s". I gave him this name because it's the name of the last Pagan empereor, Julian (the empereor that stupid people name "Apostate"). If I'll have a daughter I'll call her "Dafne", a Greek name, its meaning is "Laurel" (Laurus). My parents gave me this name because it was the name of my grandfather. Once in my country (Italia) there was this custom.... Compliments, you have good taste, I like "Diana", the Goddess Arthemis.... but I like your name, "Joyce".... wow.... this is the first time I hear a name such this.... very interesting....

I wouldn't want to change my name because I'm used to it. It would be too strange for to hear someone calling me something other than the name I have. Recently, though I found out something that I think is pretty funny. My mom's name was Sophie. She hated her name, and once she did some summer work for her teacher, who didn't like the name Sophie either, and she started to call her Sylvia. My mom liked that, and used that name for a while. Now, my nephew and his wife are expecting, and thinking of naming the baby Sophie if it's a girl. They think that that would make Great Grandma Sophie happy if she knew.

Karen is a nice name too. I have a niece from a first cousin who is also named Karen. I dont see anything wrong with Sophie, it must be the nickname for Sofia. Thanks for responding.

I would certainly choose other names if I am the one to give myself a name. I like the names Michelle, Caroline or Margaret. Those names have a striking effect on me.
