The only one I know to suggest is the Flag Retirement and Burning Ceremony. June 14th is Flag Day. We do this at a community park. Collect old worn out flags that are in need of retirement. Invite the local VFW to attend the ceremony. Have them play taps. Invite the public/other troops to attend. Learn/explain how to fold the flag properly. Learn/explain what each fold represents or stands for. Learn/explain why and how to cut the flags into pieces and sort them. Learn/explain what each part of the flag stands for or means. Learn/explain which parts of the flag are put into the fire first, second, third, etc. and why there is an order to it. Add songs to your ceremony. Make sure your fire is out before you leave your site. Pick up and clean up and thank your guests for attending.

You may need to start your fire with charcoal or wood. And you may need wood to keep your fire burning. Also, don't breathe in the smoke as some of the flags may have been treated with chemicals to keep them water proof.

We were talking about doing a tea for the mothers of our military. This could be a great silver award project. The girls could make tea and cookies and serve them to the mothers. It would be a great photo opportunity to have the moms pose for a photo and then maybe make a from for the photo. The girls could also make corsages for each mother and give them to them. There are several other things that could make the night special for them.
