We're Having A Nor' Easter - Why Aren't They Reporting It This Way? Forecasts

On Long Island, NY the worst weather is always the "Nor' Easter", or the North East heading storms.
I keep my eyes on the forecasts, and as soon as I see the winds change from the usual Easterly direction to North East, I know there is going to be a serious problem.
What happens is that East-bound weather curls up around Cape Cod and turns back on us, blowing in from the North East. It's freaking nasty! Once the air has cooled off up North, it's chilled to the extreme and driven with a force usually unseen on Long Island.
What really gets my goat is that the forecasters never report a Nor' Easter when it starts. This would save lots of people from driving accidents and slips, falls, house damage from blowing outdoor furniture, and downed branches and power lines! If only a forecaster would just say, "There's a Nor' Easter coming!" everybody would just stay home. We all know what it means.
Right now there are countless workers who went to work when the weather wasn't that bad, trying to get home early in a sleet storm. I have a radio and listen in to the road problems as reported by our local police and ambulance force. Within 15 minutes they reported one overturned vehicle, a three car pileup, and a car that drove into a ditch. I became so concerned, I called my Hubby to make sure that he was close to home. There were very few warnings this morning, and everybody's at work, trying to get out early now! The roads are infinitely more dangerous now than they were this morning, and all those commuters will soon be travelling home, talking on their cellphones, speeding, and crashing. Hubby informed me that he grew concerned after seeing a woman pass him going 70 miles per hour while chatting on her bluetooth. Further up the road he saw three SUV's skid right off the road, the woman being one of them.
When will out forecasters decide that weather is bad enough to warn drivers 12 hours before, or at least by 7am to keep them off the roads?
It's ridiculous.
Nor' Easters should be reported immediately, as an Alert Condition. There are no excuses.
What do you think?
