Where are all the quality discussions???????

Is is just me or does there seem to be a real lack of quality in the discussions lately? When I get the chance to get on Mylot I go through many many discussions before I even consider responding to anything that is worthwhile. Sometimes I can look through pages and pages of discussions and not find anything of quality to respond to. I do not like responding just for the sake of trying to make 1 or 2 cents. I like responding because I feel I have something to offer. Maybe it's just me and I have nothing to offer but most topics I've seen before and if I respond to the ones I am able, I would just be repeating myself. Does anyone else feel the same at times?

I have found the same thing as you at times.I don't know if it's just because I can't be bothered with the same old or maybe it's that I just have no real interest or opinion on the topics on offer.Thank goodness I don't find it like that too often.I have had days when I have gone through pages of discussions without responding to even one. When it gets like that I just go off and do something else and hope there is something I can respond to when I come back lol.

I think we might be on the same wavelength with this. I tend to just come back the next day and look again.

No I am not having any problems with the discussions, a few of them can be a bit off but I find the majority of the discussions are fine. No I do not feel the same way as you do although I do see a few members saying the same thing.

Hi kathy77, maybe I was just having a bad day and finding it difficult to relate to a lot of the posts when I posted this. I think when I posted this discussion, Quality was the wrong word to use. Some days I just have trouble finding topics I can relate to or feel I can comment. Happy posting/reading :)

I hear what your saying, but lets remember there's people from all over the world here. Many are not very good with english. Also one man's treasure is one man's junk. Does that make sense?

I could have written your post myself. It says exactly what I feel most of the time, especially since some really good friends who posted the absolutely best discussions are now no longer with us. I check through the "discussions my friends started" and if I can't find anything to interest me, I usually go to the profiles of other people I know to be good debaters. I do check out posts from newcomers, but having to answer the same question over and over and over does not appeal. The question is, can anyone be done about it? I have often stated it would be good if myLot could run two streams of discussions, but I have no idea how it could be done. Maybe another option in the list in the left panel? Maybe something like "deep discussions" or "debaters delight"?

For some reason all of us seem to pass through this "no good discussions" phase..hehe When I joined, I too had started a topic titled "weird discussion topics" ..lol Well it happens and you aren't the only one. There are many users here who start discussions just for the money hence no substance. We have more than 80,000 members here on mylot, so there ought to be some good topics somewhere, looking for them in the right place is the key;o) Do read this where I have outlined where you can find good discussions, hope it helps:) http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/835744.aspx There are times when I can't find anything too, that's because I'm being too picky and not because there are no discussions here. I just take a break and start afresh later.

I guess most topics go in phases here, depending on what is on the news or what people are most concerned about at the time. I have managed to find a few very interesting discussions, and posted a couple too, but there are times when I find it difficult to select topics that interest me.
