My creed Desiderata - by Max Ehrmann 1920 Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even the dull and the ignorant, they too have their story. Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain and bitter; for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the fortunes of time. Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals, and everywhere life is full of heroism. Be yourself. Especially, do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love, for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is perennial as the grass. Take kindly to the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness. Beyond discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be, and whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul. With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.

Hi there again... The beauty of the Desiderata that it covers three parts, maybe not distinguished by numbers but one can easily see them as follows: PART 1: Where Ehrmann talks about the relation between you and the others (people) and how to deal and interact with them. PART 2: Where he talks about one's self, the relation of man with himself, qualities a person must have 2 overcome weaknesses and be a better person. PART 3: Here where it goes 2 higher level when he mentions a man's relation with the Lord (God) A lot of similar works have been written and preserved over the years (some are msising and lost too), these words of wisdom are like pearls and must be always read and thought of. Thanx Annie.....

I'm so glad you enjoyed it, it brings out the best in people. Max Ehrmann was a very wise man indeed, Desiderata was written in 1920 and is still applicable today and will be, for years..... to come. Thx for your response suscan xx

I have not read that in many years, but it still applies. I think if more of us implemented these principles on myLot, we would be getting along even better. Thanks Annie for reminding us.

So true my friend, I hope a few MyLotters see this and not just my friends, I am glad I could dust it off a bit, for you, when you see something like this that you haven't seen in a long time, it feels like seeing an old friend again.
