Why do men say the things they don't mean sometimes?

Is it just a way for men to let women stay with them for a while? Why say things you don't mean? What is the psychology behind that?

I don't think men know any better!! I think men do that out of selfishness and ignorance.

Selfish is the better word for it-based on my experience. Men say those things so women will stick to them. Thanks for the comments! (^^)

A friend of mine who loves to be in the centre of attencion always says lies in front of other girls to impress them. Why am I sure that he's laying? Because I know him, we've gronw up together. He's just not confident in his real life experience. Men think they're great when they lie to women because we never notice. It's not tha we don't notice, but we pretend like this.

I don't really know why but my partner does it. Well, I don't know if it's that he says something he doesn't mean or that he is too idle to put what he says into practise. I'm sure some men are just born compulsive liars and can't help it. And I think some just want women to stay with them so will say anything and expect you to believe them then they will do nothing to prove that they meant what they said because they think we will just accept whatever they do.

I totally agree with you. It's called LAMENESS...lol. It's the "expecting-women-to-believe" thing that gives them that confidence to do what they do best. Sorry you guys out there! Can some guys out there prove us wrong? Thanks!
