I just got an email from my FIL notifying me that CITGO gas stations owned by Hugo Chavez is changing it's name to Petro Express to try to offset loss of profits due to Americans not buying gas at his stations. The email says we shouldn't patronize this gas sation because Chavez hates all Americans, which I don't think he hates all Americans, just the Bush administration. Would you not buy gas here? Personally I just tstop wherever it's convenient.

We have 3 CITGO gas stations near us. Since Hugo Chavez has been expressing his opinions about Bush, 2 have went out of business and the third one doesn't look very busy these days. I gues that saying is true. "Don't bite the hand that feeds you." Lloyd

I guess this is proof that the saying is true. Almost all of the Citgo's around here have turned into RoadRangers. I also find it odd that with all the anti Bush sentiment out there Hugo Chavez is suffering financially for calling Bush "the devil". Kinda ironic.

I guess it's ok to fight amonst ourself within the country, but people don't want an outsider jumping in. Lloyd

Citgo does fine around here. They tend to have the lowest gas prices in this area.

Every Thursday the Citgo in my area lowers its price so needless to say it does quite well. I haven't noticed a name change but I will keep you posted.

Since Kroger grocery store now have their own gas stations and you get 10% discount on a gallon of gas with your Kroger Card I wouldn't go anyplace else except Piggly Wiggly they let you buy BP gas with your greenbacks so I would not go to any regular gas stations unless I was on the highway

What I hate are the daily penny increases in the cost of gAsoline. I really think that law that forbids gas wars should be repealed! Oh, yes, I know I am off topic. Please pick a best response anyway!

Citgo gas is usually one of the highest price in my area, therefore, I never buy it.

He is against America so I don't buy. Plus, other stations are usually cheaper that 7-11 which is where his gas is sold in CA. Throw in he drills in texas, sells in USA and the money goes to whereever he is....which isn't america.

As you all may have figured out by now, this is a hoax. Petro Express is an independent company who is not only not part of Citgo, but who opted to start using Texaco gas instead. So, please check these things out before telling others because you might be targeting people and/or businesses who are innocent. Check out snopes.com and truthorfiction.com or even hoaxbusters.com for any radical emails you receive.

I never said I believed it, I just said it was an email my FIL sent. Thanks for the update though, I was surprised to see a response to this, I honestly had forgotten about it.

Hi, yes - I just got the email today from someone and was trying to find the information I knew I'd seen on this and I saw that you had posted on MyLot, which I had recently joined. I didn't mean to come across accusatory, but so many of these "did you know" types of emails that portray all sorts of conspiracies or dangers or political nonsense are bogus, I tend to share what I have found (sometimes to excess). I'm sure it was a surprise seeing a response a year later, but my thinking was that if the email is being sent around again, I would post something to head some of it off. I might not be the only one who goes looking to see what's posted where. Have a great evening!

you are an idiot, Hugo sells gas and buys weapons to kill Americans. (.) period Regardless who is President, We as citizens are duty bound to be loyal to our Flag, Country, and our way of life. Chavez is anti American. Now if you are an illegal alien go home and if you are to lazy to be an American, Find another county to live in.
