I recently remembered an old favorite of mine from my childhood: Tang Orange Drink, Breakfast of Astronauts!
I used to love it simply because they said the astronauts drank it, but later the very orange taste stuck with me. At one point though, I was not allowed to have it because my nutritionist told my parents that I shouldn't have sugar.
What baloney! I drink two glasses of it a day, and it does not affect my blood sugar like a sugar doughnut would!
I find it satisfying, filling, and much more thirst-quenching than soda. It's much better for you too!
I will never give up my Tang, I love it so much...
So I won't be an astronaut. At least I'm getting my vitamin C. :)

No offense here, I drink tang, too. But if your nutritionist has advised you against it, don't you consider switching to lemon juice and other natural fruit juices? I have been taking natural fruit and vegetable juices and they are great.

Good point. Actually, the nutritionist recommended that I limit my fruit intake too, due to the fructose.
But the really funny part was that I didn't actually have a problem with blood sugar. It was just a suggestion given to parents who thought they had an "overactive" child.
It's practically the same as all the misdiagnoses of kids with ADHD. What was I dong that was so bad? One year it was talking in class, the next year it was chewing gum in class, and the next? I joked that I wanted my teacher to choke on a chicken bone.
I wasn't overactive, I was normal!
I have had my blood sugar tested. If anything, I might have been borderline Hypoglycemic, but I am not now.
So poopoo on that nutritionist for sending my parents home thinking that they had the answer to everything.
Glad to hear that you like Tang, too!

I am inclined to believe that there are plenty of tang lovers around. It's good to know that there is really nothing wrong with you. I think it is nice of you to have been pouring some of your energy here in mylot. You will find it rewarding having friends to communicate with online anytime. Actually, I am finding myself spending more and more time each day as my stay here gets longer. See you around posting.

Wow, now there's a throw back in time for sure! My mom used to buy it all the time but for some reason it was like this "golden" drink that we couldn't just sit and drink and drink! LOL She'd let us guzzle soda, but not all the tang?! Oh well. I haven't purchased Tang in years, basically because I prefer non-sugary drinks and would rather drink real OJ instead. I should buy it just to let my kids try it!

I remember when Tang came out. It was great. We only got it though when we were going camping. My mom would buy it so that we had orange juice to drink but it didn't have to be refridgerated. We had a camper with an icebox so she wanted to save the space. I did enjoy it though and it might be it was so good for me anyways because I didn't get it all the time. I haven't bought it though in years. I'm not a big orange juice drinker as an adult but you know I might have to see how much it is. Introduce my neice to it.

When I was a child, I heard someone on TV talk about how astronauts used to drink Tang. I asked my mom about it and she told me how she used to drink it. So of course, I insisted that she buy some at the store the next time we went. She did, and I LOVED it. I haven't had it in years because I'm trying to just drink water and an occasional caffeinated pop. Don't be surprised though if you find me passed out at the computer with a glass of Tang in my hand! LOL
