How patient am I expected to be?

As some of you know I am a homeschooling parent. As some of you also know there are some things in my life that have gotten in the way of providing a good education for my daughters. Anyway I found these two self teaching curriculums. I looked into both and decided I like the one a bit better than the other. Well I can't afford the $100 (I will call it A2) right now for the one I like better and certainly not $200 for the other one (I will call it RC). Both companies offer 'scholarships'. Well I contacted the creator of the A2 program and asked if he could help us out. He sent me an application that had all sorts of questions including income and expenses. I filled this out on February 26th. On March 5th I contacted him as I hadn't heard ANYTHING. He said he had been busy but would have a decision for me within the week. Friday March 16th I sent him another email because I STILL have not heard from him. I am kinda desperate and running out of time (sorry don't want to get into details right now). So how patient am I expected to be? I am so ready to tell this guy "look not replying to people and keeping them waiting for long periods is just plain rude. I am no longer interested in your product and will ask the other company to help me". Maybe not even that nicely. I am just getting fed up with waiting. This is 3 weeks already. It doesn't take that long to read an application and decide if you want to help a family out. Would you wait a bit longer? Would you tell him off? Would you just say to heck with it and write to the other company? I am just so frustrated. I have so much going on right now and most of it not good or at least difficult. I really don't want to deal with this on top of it. I already feel like I need my anxiety meds again!

I would definitely contact him and let him know that as a family in need that you need to know something soon, b/c if in fact they do not help you, you will need to contact someone else and that takes time and in the mean time your children are not advancing with their education. Hopefully you will get something positive going after this. Good luck.

I have contacted him and told him that. I have told him that we need this. It is a last ditch effort to keep my daughter out of public school. I am pretty sure I am going to go ahead and mail a letter to the other company.

The guy is probably not bothered helping you out and is just giving excuses. I would suggest that you give him a deadline say a few days more and if he doesn't sort out your application by then you should just drop this guy and apply to another company

I think I am going to go ahead an apply for the other program. I would rather this guy just tell me NO than keep me waiting and wondering.

I think you have to contact this person again and remind him of your circumstances, maybe something has got lst in the post and he ia awaitting a reply from you, it would be a shame if this were the case. Try to think about what you need to say about the circumstances, the wait/mailing problem and explain that you are now working to a deadline and yo uneed his help/advice now. Write yourself a list before you ring or write with all the things you feel are relevant clearly mentioned, try not to waffle (like I am now). I wihs you all the beswt, it's so difficult to get decent help, whe nyou really need it.

This has all been done through email so nothing to lose in the post. I just sent him yet another reminder on Friday. I wish he would just send me an answer one way or another. It can't possibly take that long to come to a decision. I am going to go ahead and apply to the other company. Hopefully I will get at least one (luckily they are very similar)

The owner said he was shipping the curriculum today. I am going to take a little time to get things organized and restart after Easter. (the week right before Easter is easier on my since my younger daughter is going to my SIL's house so it is just a bit quieter)

I think that is very unprofessional of this man to say one thing and do another. I understand things come up and people can't always respond the minute they say they will but I have to agree that 3 weeks is plenty of time to review your application - yes or no how difficult is that. I don't think I would "tell him off" but I would lean towards contacting the second company and see what kind of response you get from them. If the first does come through for you you can always contact the second and cancel your request. Don't stress dear just move on, put it in God's hands, and see what happens.

I have been praying like crazy lately. Yes I fully understand busy. I agree 3 weeks is more than long enough to review an application and make a decision. I am going to contact the second company. I have contacted him to remind him more than once without being trying pushy.

Personally, I am just not good at waiting, so I would tell the guy to buzz off! At any rate, if you are desperate, you should apply now to the other program. You could just ignore the first one since they don´t seem to be too interested in helping out. Then if the second falls through, perhaps you will still get the first. If that makes any sense! LOL. My point is, if you don´t write a nasty letter, you still have two opportunities to get curriculum.

Homeschooling is not practiced in my country, or if so, not that popular. It's amazing to know someone like you can get that hands on with the children's education - down to the curriculum, wow! I guess you just have to go on with the other options, and try not to be agitated easily because your mind and body suffers :) There's a lot of people who fail us one way or another, and I tell myself, you got one from me but I won't let you get another by making me angry. Then I just say goodbye :)

It is not a school. It is a curriculum on CD-Rom. I have emailed him again this past Friday. I am going to send a letter to the other company as they only work in snail mail. Hopefully I will get one of them.

I would write the other company and see who gets their act together first. I am not quite sure what these companies are supposed to provide. I assume they are lesson plans. If you like, I can look around for some sites that have lesson plans and then get a message to you with the links. I am working in classrooms all this week so it will be Thursday night before I can get them together but I would be happy to help you out , if this would be helpful for you

I'm not very good at the waiting game either. I'd find out if there was somebody above him to talk to and do that right away. If not, then I'd absolutley go to someone else for help. This guy has a really important job and the people like yourself that have to deal with him really need answers right away. Not a month or 2 later. I don't think I could be so polite and tell him I was going somewhere else. I'd probably tell him off.

I am trying not to tell him off. It is his product and his company. There is no one to go to above him.

I think waiting 3 weeks is a bit long without any kind of a responce back, at least a "We got your aplication and are reviewing it" kind of responce. I would give it another week and if you haven't heard anything back tell them you are no longer interested. Though, spring is one of the busiest times for homeschool stores because everyone is buying their stuff for the next year.

I did get I am reviewing it. I also got I will have an answer for you within the week. I am going to apply for the other one and hope I get at least one. This isn't a homeschool store. This is a single individual selling what really amounts to a single product. (he also has a distributor) It is all up to him. I just find this very unprofessional.
