I really like pot-luck parties. I think they are a bit more fun and informal.
Plus I am a little on the introverted side so if there are people at a party that I don't know, it's hard for me to mingle. Having a pot luck gives an automatic topic of conversation. You can talk abuot what dish you and the other person made! Hopefully from there you can branch out to ther topics.
It's also fun to do pot-lucks with your friend too. I love seeing what others bring. Often my friends and I do an "Iron chef" style pot luck, where there is a theme ingredient for everyone to use. It's so fun to see how other people interpurt the same thing.

I enjoy both potluck and host prepared all parties. We keep doing both kind of get together. Sometime I run out of ideas what to make for the potluck party, as I don't want to reapet my dishes in recent time. Thats why I sometime offer all the soda, juice, plates and glas, spoon and napkins to bring if we are doing the party in a park or anywhere out side.

I like both kinds, but really do prefer the potluck style. There seems to always be a big variety of things to eat that are new or different. It's interesting to see what everybody brings. think it's more informal and relaxed too which I tend to enjoy.

i prefer pot-lucks because i know i will always have something to eat that way. i am a vegetarian (very strick) and a picky eater at that...plus i have some health concerns (such as diabetes) on top of that, so i have to be careful of what i ingest.

I am ok with either. Usually, if there is a real "party" then the food will be provided by the host/hostess anyway. Potluck is normally for when the person is just lending his/her place.
Either is fine with me. ;-)
