If you live in large house, adults as well as young childre welcome a good work bench with screw clamps and storage for tools. Make sure that the top is heavy enough (at least 22"X42X13/4 thick) to withstand hammering. A butcher block top is ideal. Make sure the height is between 24" and 27" to serve the growing child from kindedrgarten through high school.
At the first a child likes a just to harmmer nails into soft wood. Later boys and girls learn how to cut, sand adn construct crude boats, trains, doll houses, etc. Buy adult tools - do not waste money on toy tools.
