US Attorney General- Should he stay or go.
The Controversy: Alberto Gonzales and the Bush Administration recently fired 8 of the 93 Federal Prosecutors. It is speculated that the 8 fired were hesitant to comply with Republican calls to speed up investigations in voter fraud cases involving Democrats.
My take: The Attorney General did nothing wrong. He, at the urging of his boss, fired only 8 of the Prosecutors. Bill Clinton at one point, during an investigation of his close friend and ally, fired all 93 Prosecutors.
He did his job. Plain and simple. This is a media and Democrat driven showcase, not an actual issue.

Yeah, Clinton fired all the prosecutors when he took office, just like Bush Sr. before him, just like Reagan before him. Every President does this when they take office.
Personally, I think Gonzalez should go because he doesn't seem to believe in the Bill of Rights. For example, he has said that the Constitution does not guarantee you and me a right to a fair trial. He acknowledges that it can't be taken away, but not that the right is granted.

I understand the firing of all 93 when a new administration comes in, however, my point was merely that firing of prosecutors is a normal thing, this is no exception.
You do make a valid point on the trial though.

Yeah, in my opinion this isn't the worst thing that the Bush administration has done.
There's something that was mentioned on The Daily Show which I can't find any corroboration from other sources, so I don't know how true it is: The prosecutors that were fired were investigating Republican corruption. If that turns out to be true, then the firing will have been a worse thing, but as yet it may have only been a joke.

I think The Daily Show comment was a joke based on the fact that two of the prosecutors Clinton fired were investigating Democrats...one was investigating Clinton's whitewater dealings and another was investigating the House bigwig Dan Rostenkowski from Chicago...Rosti eventually was charged and convicted and later pardoned by Clinton.

Gonzales should stay and Republicans ought to back him up.
After sacrificing Rumsfield to the Democrats, the President and his party should see that sacrificial lambs don't work. They should stand up for their right to do what they did andfor their people. I think that's why I would have such a hard time supporting any Republican for anything right now...it seems that they've all forgotten where their backbone is.
